Serious Sam

Serious Sam is a great way to test the real-world fillrate of video cards, shutting the doors on theoretical fill-rates and showing just how powerful the cards really are. The low clock speeds may hurt the Kyro II in this case however, due to the lack of raw processing power and bandwidth.

In the final fillrate test, the Kyro II scored an unimpressive 167.68 Mega Pixels/s, 29% slower than the 232 Mega Pixels/s from the GeForce 2. There is one positive point to this however. The Kyro II is actually 95% efficient in its fillrate, due to the Tile-Based Rendering curing the bandwidth issues and making the only thing limiting the card the processor clock speeds. We'll take a look later on to see if overclocking the card will raise the fillrate and performance of the card.

GL eXcess

GL eXcess is pre-configured synthetic OpenGL benchmark program, similar to 3D Mark. It tests various aspects of the video card, and keeps you entertained with nice visuals.

It seems the GeForce 2 is 39% faster in GL eXcess, which is a big margin to have for a card aimed at gamers. There's no way to tell just why it is that much slower, but it seems that the Kyro II has been consistently lagging behind in OpenGL.
