That's a nasty nest! I've dug them out of the ground about that size, but never seen one above ground.
Fuck. That. We get paper wasps in the apartment every now and then, usually notice it because the cat freaks out about something in the blinds. Since they're benign I usually relocate them outside.
I've been stung 3x by paper wasps, once by a yellowjacket, and never by a bee. The "worst" was a wasp sting right in between the shoulder blades that made me drop the 2 yr. old I'd just picked up and straightened back up. By far the most painful was a wasp sting right on the end of my index fingertip. It'd built a nest in the little canvas clothesline-pin pouch we had hanging from the clothesline. I reached in to grab a clothesline-pin and got zapped. All those nerve endings. . .
Paper wasps are all over the place around here. It's the yellow jackets that really get nasty in the summertime. I've been stung so many times by all of them that there is no keeping count. The worst was by yellow jackets and I got 28 stings at the same time.
I was shitfaced pre-anesthetized the one time I got stung by a yellow jacket, but it was on my inner thigh. It felt like a cigarette burn.
The worst I've ever been stung, was from Africanized honey bees. I wasn't even close to where they were and they sought me out. I got nailed three times on the right hand and my whole arm swelled up. Worst sting and pain I ever had from a stinging insect.
I was going to say something. But wasn't too hot about the chronology that could be implied. BTW.....don't eat the yellow snow.
For me it's probably the aforementioned along with Live in New York and 200 Motels. The range of Zappa was astonishing. This is the guy who wrote "Titties and Beer," "Call Any Vegetable," and "The Illinois Enema Bandit," yet he did complex rock arrangements (to play in his band you had to be able to read sheet music), was a huge classical fan (idolized Stravinsky) who wrote classical pieces I think all the way up to full symphonies, and guest-conducted none other than the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Holy shit, he's been dead over 20 years?
Frank may be gone, but let's not forget Moon Unit and Dweezil. The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.
I think Moon is dating Marc Maron these days. Gawd help her. EDIT: They split after about five or six months. Now I sorta feel sorry for him, even if he is his own worst enemy.
