So far I'm watching new seasons for "old" shows like the Americans, South Park, Mr. Robot, Full Frontal w/ Samantha Bee, Ballers, etc. SNL doesn't debut til Oct. 1st. Anything NEW that's good? What about the streamers?
I haven't seen anything and I'm curious as well. I was hoping for an actually good new comedy but they usually suck. Right now the wife and I are binging on older stuff we never had time for. Watching Brooklyn 99, quantum leap, shameless, and community (which I've seen like 3 times now lol)
FWIW, Netflix has started showing some of Bill Hicks' and Sam Kinison's stuff. Sane Man by Hicks and Kinison's Breaking the Rules are two of the best stand-up comedy shows ever.
I also saw that Sterling K. Brown, Sarah Paulson, and Courtney Vance won for their roles as Chris Darden, Marcia Clark, and Johnnie Cochran in FX's American Crime Story: The Peeps v. The Juice.
Pitch is the new Fox show set in the very near future about the first female baseball player. The first ep is encouraging with a nice reveal at the end.
And now for something completely different . . . Wyatt Cynac has a new sitcom on TBS, People of Earth, about a group of wannabe alien abductees. http://www.tbs.com/shows/People-of-Earth.html Dana Gould is producing a new one for FX, Stan Against Evil, that stars John McGinley (Scrubs) and the lovely Janet Varney. It's a comedy horror about a modern day witch-infested New England town. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stan_Against_Evil
The OA Netflix original series, starring and co-written by Brit Marling. She's a honey and has a huuuuge imagination. (She co-wrote and starred in Another Earth) She plays a blind women who mysteriously went missing for seven years, who then re-appears with her sight intact. I've only seen ep-1 so far, but it looks really good and the characters are compelling so far.
