You mean the dad's holiday that now gets shared with graduates like in "dads and grads"? I think we should share mother's day with celebrating people named Thomas. "Moms and Toms"
This particular holiday has sucked balls for me every year for 35 years.......seriously.

I am enjoying my first Father's day in Honolulu! Just flew in yesterday, and did some exploring of the island yesterday. All sorts of things in store for us in the coming 9 days. Lots of exploring and photos, ample amounts of alcohol at the barefoot bar (downstairs from our room), and Life is good! Jet lag was a bitch, but we are doing better this morning.

So as usual the wife didn't make any plans with the kids in advance. No card, no gift... She scrambled last minute and pulled some Red Lobster gift cards out of the safe. I don't really care about cards or gifts, but the lack of though is irritating.

But just try the same thing on mothers day and see what happens. I'd even settle for a day like that, but it's always a no-go.

This holiday makes me realize how wonderful it is to not be a father yet.

My kids make every day feel like a holiday really. It's the wife that spoils things.

I got up this morning, did an interval run. Got cleaned up, and my wife asks me where I wanted to go for brunch. I chose, I'm waiting with my kids and my lovely wife.

i did specify "yet". Pretty sure I want kids one day but for now enjoy being able to impulsively go see an 80s movie at 10 on a Saturday without needing a sitter.

Edit: And my dad managed to call me before I had a chance to call him, pretty much to complain that he had to talk to his sister when he tried to call his dad (she's living with him now). The joys of family!

Oh yeah, one of those big floor standing safes. ;)

Nah, we just keep gift cards, passports, etc, locked in a fire safe.

Happy belated Father's Day to all of the dads here. I'm not technically a father I guess, but I've been helping raise my girlfriend's kid since she was a little over a year old (she'll be 4 next month). My girl and I took her to the beach at Lake Michigan, we played in the sand and went in the freezing cold lake, went and got ice cream, and let the little one stay up late. After she went to bed, I had some amazing sex with my girl, finished off by busting my nut IDB. Too much info? That was on Saturday. Sunday, I went out to lunch with my dad and mother/brother, and that was about it. Nothing too extraordinary.
