Accompanying the package is an eight language paper manual serving to teach and guide the consumer through the model's setup process and technical data. Although only using black text it is clear and informative using greyscale images to further enhance an understanding between it and the reader. A lot of space is given to configuring the screen to act its best performance all of which comes illustrated and written in such way that would cause nobody incomprehension. The installation process covers both PC and Macintosh systems, PC installation is divided into analog and digital connections but we highly recommend using DVI for optimum performance. Overall Sony manages to convey a well demonstrated and easy to follow manual bound to serve the many types of users thanks both to its eight language coverage and well illustrated presentation.
OSD (On Screen Display)
The OSD as part of any monitor sold today is where most users will spend time configuring the screen to their own desires and for this reason the layout, feel, and ease of use are all considered important. Sony divides the OSD into two main types depending on whether an analog (HD-15) or digital (DVI) signal is attached. One would be foolish not to use DVI on a monitor of this class but should an analog connection be the only option on one's graphics card there does come hope in a promising collection of choices that adjust the screen's performance. These spoken of choices become hidden should DVI be used to connect the graphics card and display together. The OSD in itself is divided into three distinctive sections: picture adjustment, input settings, and other options. Navigation is performed via three buttons, two of which control up/down movements and the last serving the purpose to confirm a selection. Onscreen menus are displayed in two shades of silver blending hand in hand with this model's aluminium base mentioned earlier; orange is the color of choice used to mark a menu selection. It is hard to fault Sony's OSD; it is both clear and easy to use with little criticism to hold against it including the multi-lingual support for in total nine languages. 1.) Brightness
