Sony has announced that the 20GB Playstation 3's price will be slashed by about 20%, dropping the cost to around $410 USD.
That puts the PlayStation 3 in the same range as the combined basic Xbox 360 and HD DVD player in Japan, where the duo will sell for 49,600 yen, or $427. There are no plans to lower prices in the U.S. or other markets, Sony spokeswoman Nanako Kato said. The PS3 arrives in Japan on November 11th. Both versions (20GB and 60GB) include HDMI, but the 60GB version also supports Wi-Fi. No announcement has been made on its price dropping yet.
