Man...I've been reading so many of these stories online about families quitting their jobs or parents telling their children "Don't worry about college...you'll be going to heaven or hell"...STUPID! It's funny because I go to church on a semi-regular basis...and nothing has been said about it. So while I know the congregation has a bunch of hand raisin' and wavin' nut jobs, it's good to see they're a little more down to earth. BUT...just in case...I'm not showing up on Sunday. You posted links to scripture from books of law from the Old Testament that no longer apply after God sent his son to die (and pay) for our sins (unless you are Jewish). I don't know much about the Book of Sirach as that is a book of law from the Catholic Bible but still a book of old laws, the largest of such books as I read. Part of this chapter goes on about the "wickedness of a woman." It doesn't say "all women are wicked" as can be read in the following chapter about a "virtuous wife"... This is referring to the consequence of Eve's decision to disobey God thus losing eternal life in the Garden of Eden with God. BTW, I think you misquoted the homosexual reference. It's in Leviticus. I'm just going to reiterate that this comes from a book of law written for the Nation of Israel (God's chosen people) to keep them Holy and un-contaminated from the ways of the other peoples around them at the time.
