Long story short... It's been a hell of a last 72 hours. I was in Costa Mesa for work, using only my phone for Internet access, and I received an email saying that a phishing scam was being hosted on Tweak3D. By the time I even tried to load the site it was down. Essentially, it was like horrible spyware that filled our web server with nasty buggers, sending out mass emails trying to rip people off. It was sending so many emails that the server basically crashed. We deleted everything and are re-populating the site. This will explain the arbitrary/non-SEO friendly URLs, and a lack of many regular features at the moment. Many parts of the forum will not work right now but I will work on that over the next 24-hours. It did not really mess with the forums, but it would be a good idea to change your password etc., anyway. Anyway, welcome back.
The passwords are encrypted, but the offender basically had access to -everything- if they were aware of it or not, so I'd recommend doing that.
This password is just generated numbers that isn't close to anything I use in my other accounts, so I'm not worried myself.
Nice work... If any of us can help lighten the work load, feel free to ask man. So any way to backtrack who is responsible for the problems?
HOw'd someone gain that level of access to the server? Was it someone/something that guesses a user's password?
Woo-hoo!!! Not that I had enough time to surf this last few daze.I got a shit ton of stuff done at the cottage. Not exactly sure how much time you spend on something until it's gone. texture, paint flooring and doors/trims and i'm ready for final inspections. In the last couple of days I managed to wire/pass electrical inspection, roofing, insulate/pass insulation inspection, hang all the sheetrock/tape and muds. I may be able to move in by the end of march . With all the work, I still missed T3D.
Just a second ago I went to make a new thread with some pictures I took, and the image gallery doesn't work yet Oh well. Good to see we are back and running, I'm sure things will be back to normal soon enough.
HAHAHAHA... Good to see the site is up. It was weird cuz I could get access from my mobile, but through normal means.
No, it was a security hole in our old CMS (which is odd, I had just updated it like 2 days prior to this incident). I'm bypassing the whole thing now, making all the old articles into plain HTML. It's a daunting task.
