I'm looking for Android launcher and/or contacts widgets. Anyone have any they like? The GO ones seem to be popular.

I cleaned out a lot of unwanted apps and now get 2-2 1/2 days per charge. Damn factory installed bloat was running all the time.

all social networking apps, maps and any app that uses GPS other than the ones I installed myself, news apps and some others that I replaced with apps of my choosing.

I suspected as much about GPS. There's no really turning it off if any app that's enabled uses positioning at all. I turned the ones off that I did, mainly to keep them from
    sucking resources.

Black phone in a Ballistic case in black & white. I'll be getting a sturdier case later.

No case on my S4. Why would I want to disturb its good looks, sleek body and thin profile with an ugly ass case.

God that cheap plastic is so sexy.

The s4 is many impressive things. But it's not the best looking or most well constructed thing. :(

Some of us want the thing to survive at least one drop from more than 6 inches. As Commie said: it's not the best constructed thing"
My case is guaranteed for a drop of up to 5'. The case I want is military-grade-butt-ugly but it's tough as nails and 12' drop protection.
seeing as how I work on ladders and above ground level a lot, not at a desk, that's kinda important

I'm with Commie on that one.

The day I unboxed mine, I dropped it 1', before putting it in a case. Screen completely shattered.

    Yay for new electronics.

I started receiving spam texts, and realized that it was due to some app I had downloaded. I removed the app, and the spam stopped!

Speaking of Spam, I had a weird one this afternoon... I listed my huge Army dump truck (1971 AM General M817 5 ton dump truck) on Craigslist for a pretty insane price. Basically, everyone was showing interest in the truck and I figured I'd sell it if I could get enough money for it. Anyway, I got a phone call today from a telemarketer asking if I wanted her company to market the truck for me. She wanted to charge me $250 per month, with guaranteed sale of the truck by the one year point. She got really upset when I told her I was on the Do Not Call registry for a reason, and asked her how she got my number. She told me it was from my Craigslist ad, to which I replied that it states in the ad "It is NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests." She hung up on me and I promptly reported it to the FTC. No clue if it will do any good, but I figured it couldn't hurt.

I don't get spam texts, but I get a butt load of app ads (spam) in my notification bar. probably from google play or samsung store etc.

I'd better spend some time on my wife's S3. This could shed light on why her battery keeps going dead way too fast.

Otter Boxes are expensive, but they give a great product that they stand behind. I have their case for my Google Nexus 7 tablet and love it. That case helped my tablet to survive this past deployment, without so much as a mark to the tablet. The screen protector had several nicks and rub marks, and there were marks on the hard plastic but the tablet was perfect. I actually e-mailed the company asking them how I could get a replacement screen protector for my case (due to the marks on it). They sent me an entirely new case, completely free of charge (and shipped it for free).

I have no problem paying a little more for a product that the company backs up 100%.

The Ballistic case I have now is alright sans the 8' drop protection guaranty that I'd prefer. My case is warranted for 4'. I think I gave 30 bux for it, if I remember right. My brother has the Otterbox and loves it. He spends most of his time fishing rivers all over the PNW and is rough on his stuff, so that's a pretty practical review right there.
