Im flying down on Wednesday for a week. What are the highlights in the bay area? I am staying with a friend who has been living there about six months.
Bump, im flying into San Fransisco and will be touristing solo for most of the day. Gimmee some tips.
always fun to check out ameoba records and green apple books. i don't know the addresses, but you can google them. other than that, i can't help you. i only go to visit.
When in Cincinnati be sure to eat at The Montgomery Inn. Doesn't really help you at all, but I felt bad that nobody was responding...
Hey Jake, I'm about 20 minutes from there if you'd want to meet up for lunch/dinner or something. I know some great restaurants in the area, especially if you like Indian or Middle Eastern. As for touristy stuff... Mount Hamilton / Lick Observatory is amazing if you have a car. It's a giant telescope on top of a mountain about 45 minutes out of SJ... it's the highest point in the county and has views all the way to SF on a clear day. Skyline's also a really cool drive (up the mountains toward the coast behind Palo Alto, near Santa Cruz). SF's full of interesting things to see and could easily consume a few days just wandering, visiting museums and exploring. I also like Berkeley for this stuff. It's packed full of culture. If you don't have a car, you can take BART between SF and Berkeley and the southern East Bay (where I live), Caltrain from San Jose to SF and the Light Rail around SJ. If you want to see some tech stuff, Apple's in Cupertino, Google's in Mountain View, and there are many well known tech companies between Fremont and SJ such as Nvidia... there's also a big computer museum near Google. The NASA / Lockheed Martin stuff near Mountain View is also interesting. I'll try to think of more things to see -- maybe scan around on Google and come up with some preliminary things to check out and I can guide you toward them.
