let me ask you all this. ive kinda asked around this same question to associates of mine and they all seem kinda dumbfounded by the question. should men compete against each other for a womans attention and her love? should men treat each other like shit to make the woman laugh and gain more of her attention as if youre the "alpha male" would and should a woman respect those actions from a man?? living in the "dog eat dog" world were in now, i can only just think
Most girls like the "alpha male" whether they admit to it or not. Others aren't interested in the BS. Nobody really wants to drive the Civic... Most people would rather have the abnoxiously loud, hard to control, insanely powerful Lamborghini instead. Whether or not they can handle it or if it's truly what they are looking for, is a whole different thread.
I prefer the "beta". I suppose it's because I have such a strong "alpha" personality, I don't need someone to compete with me, but to compliment me. P.S. It's not too stupid if you think about it. It's been happening since man existed, so it's sort of like instinct and survival of the fittest if that makes sense. Hot people more often than not, want to breed with hot people. There was a show on this on the History channel. It's our subconscious minds wanting to weed out the bad traits.
It'd be flattering if a couple guys were fighting over me...but that would only last about 1 minute. After that minute was up, I'd think it was fuuuucking stupid. If you want a girls attention....put your attention towards her and make her feel good, instead of belittling the other guy...it's a definite turn off (for me, at least) to see a guy degrade another guy to make himself look cool.
Idk... There is this douchebag in the office that insults every guy any chance he gets. Girls don't really like him even though he treats them like "princesses" (short of groveling at their feet). To be honest, I think he has low self esteem and thats what I think when I hear about guys like this... The bully syndrome if you will.
I go after the girls with boyfriends, tyvm... Seriously though...My ex said something really stupid to me once. Something along the lines of, "I can have other options" or some shit. It was like, "Fuck you, I don't have to compete with other people for you to stay with me" I can't stand that kind of obnoxious attitude. That, "You're expendable, if you're not this way I'll just find the next guy that is." That's the kind of bitch that is just after her own personal fulfillment and doesn't deal with people for the way they are. Mind you, she said that about 3 years in the relationship.
i don't think a relationship you have to complete for is worth it. a girl should like you for you, not how you stack up to other guys. if you do compete and 'win' this girl, what's to stop her from just choosing the next guy who vies for her? or the next guy?
okay, so we cant talk about women, men and relationships here? last i checked this is offtopic, not.. "what mountain i climbed today", or "what tree i cut down today" (although those threads are fun) i just see a lacking of relationship and psyche threads that we can contribute to and learn from. im sure someone out there has something on their mind, and this thread is for them.
Dont they already. They uniformed there best before going to any social event, in hope of finding some one of interest. Other guys probably doing the same. So if you zoom out, its just a competition in a different way. To look your best so you can be chosen over other. The whole chemistry thing is next. While back you had a thread about clothes, you can affiliate that particular mentality here. Alpha male dont treat each other like shit. Instead they have much more of a calm demeanor. Listen too all and exert a command presence in some form over a difficult situation. That is up to the lady. I can see that both way. Base on the confines/norms of this particular society, action to discard what you currently hold for some thing better is looked down upon. However in nature its all about discarding the weak and choosing the strong, so you have a greater chance of ... (any thing that a person hold important).
This is why I like hanging out with guys who are married/in a relationship. I can ask permission to sabotage them and not have to worry about it.

Of course it would be flattering for anyone, male or female, to have people "fighting" over them. But if there was a guy that was being an ass to another guy (for real and not in a playfuy/ buddy way) I would think the first guy was a douche. In theory anyway... Apparently I chose the "asshole" though. But then he's not really an ass, that was only this rep in high school I think. Plus I remember the people calling him an ass or mean were girls that liked him, but he wasn't interested in. I can admit that I think I'm attracted to power, or influential guys. I've come to this conclusion because of the qualities I see in my boyfriend. Oh, and it seems that women are chasing men more now. Call me old fashioned, but I do prefer to be chased rather than do the chasing.
