That was really good. He wasn't as critical on religion as some comedians are (Carlos Mencia), and it was actually refreshing to listen to a comedian talk about religions without singling any out.
I liked his view on how the huge faith base gives power to the crazies. I never really thought about that before but it makes perfect sense.
Is he supposed to be a comedian, or just commenting, because "Muslims...calm down," whoa what a knee slapper. Seemed boring and unfunny. I think he needs religion for his bit, so he can at least have some audience. Jeff Dunham's Achmed the dead terrorist puppet was at least somewhat original and funny.
It was/is a political/sociological commentary...........nothing more. If he has a talent for injecting humor into a serious, cancerous mallady in what we want to believe is civilization, more power to him. he wasn't trying to be knee slapping hilarious as the nature of the subject matter is grave. I found enough humor to keep me from reaching a "fight-or-flight" level, but understood what the communique' s intent was. It was an artfull way of putting a point of view into a form of communication that accurately portrays the intended thought.
Eh, I think I could skim through an internet forum, read the religious comments imaging them in a British accent, and it'd be as artful as this.
Atheists are just as bad as those with religion when it comes to speaking their mind about their beliefs.
If only the jokes were funny. Maybe people are just getting lazy on the religious joke front. Muslims...listen up...calm down. Ugh.
I am Christian and I found it pretty amusing. I don't get all bent out of shape over religion. One of the principals our country was founded on is that people may worship who, how, when, whatever they want...within the boundaries of the law. Atheist, Christian, Jew, Muslim...you are free to worship (or not), however you want. My only problem is when someone tries to tell me I am <ignorant/stupid> or some form thereof because of choice to be a Christian. I don't tell anyone they are going to hell for not being a Christian, and I take exception to being insulted for my beliefs. Just as I would take exception if someone didn't like me because of my career choice, being too fat, being too skinny, too white, etc., etc. The lighthearted commentary and humor like South Park or this video amuses me. I don't have a problem with it.
I took it as a joke, so I didn't find it offensive. Some people say some real dicky things behind the anonymity of the internet though. Things I imagine they would never say in real life.
The OP was not a personal attack, it just had the same style of rhetoric that the very groups he attacks uses. I just pointed out that most atheists view themselves as being intellectually superior to those with religious beliefs even though they hold to the same sort of extreme dogmatic styles.
