Memo: Two al Qaeda leaders waterboarded 266 times - CNN.com

Add me to those who think someone should be held accountable for this. 266 times within a month? That's torture...

    Yup, that will do it.

Doubt anyone will be held accountable.

Hah. I'm surprised you guys haven't figured it out now; the government and the people whom it employs are above the law. I thought this was common knowledge?

No wonder the former CIA chief got his panties in a bunch when Obama released this info. We've got to hang our head in shame for this.

this was the guy that planned the 9/11 attacks. We are in war, and war is ugly. I have no problem with this.

Pft! A few sessions of boarding for that scum would have been one thing, had any of us known the frequency it would have been another matter entirely. And it was partisan, still is. Where have all the cries for closing Guantanamo gone? Obama said we needed to leave it open a while longer and all you hippies got quiet.

Bonus points for the Futurama reference.

The only thing Outrageous is that President Obama would allow ANY document to be released during this fight. One of these scummbags is possibly the mastermind of the attacks on 9-11 that killed almost 3,000 people on US soil!!!

I would have done more than waterboard. Specifically because waterboarding only "Simulates" drowning.

    Outrageous are our actions?.......nonsense.

Abu Zubaydah planned 9/11. If I was put in charge of interrogating him he would have a pineapple up his ass 6 times a day.

People like him don't deserve to be treated fairly.

Meh. You can bet the "information" obtained from those 266 waterboardings in a month are worth exactly the bucket of water they used for it. Nothing. He will happily tell them what they want to hear. Truth doesn't have anything to do with it.

Obama is actually improving our situation internationally, by putting us back on the moral pedestal from which we can browbeat others. It won't hurt against the terrorists, because they can't think any worse of us now than they ever did. And we can cut the "America uses Nazi Interrogation Techniques On Our Poor Bretheren" spiel from their Recruitment materials.

I see President Obama allowing for the release of these documents for only one reason. So the Liberals will stop getting pissed at him. They didn't particularly care for his action against The Somali Pirates. He's backed off the weapons ban and, he still hasn't shut down Abu-Ghraib as fast they would've liked. This points more attention at the past administration and lightens the burden on him.

266 waterboards huh? Big Deal. Worse has always been to our soldiers. Forcing the ingestion of oil, electrodes to all places of the body, mutilation, torn ligaments and sliced muscles, joints being slowly torn out their sockets, syringes removing liquid from eyeballs, etc.

We waterboarded 266 times. Wah. Anybody remember a US soldier kidnapping an Al-Jazeera reporter and cutting his head off on Youtube? Anybody? Nope.

Again, Obama is fighting to regain the moral high ground. We don't need to stoop to their rudimentary and disgusting torture habits. The threat of pain that never comes is often more mentally debilitating than physical pain itself.

Does water-boarding actually do any damage do the human body, besides give the sensation of drowning?

I would much rather feel like I'm drowning, then get my achilles tendons slashed or eyeballs pulled out.

The only reason it's staying open is that those occupying it aren't being accepted by any nations other than those that they came from, most of which would execute them upon reentry (especially the Chinese Nationals).

Legit, but an excuse that if given by Bush would have been shouted down by the left. That's all that I'm saying.

Water boarding isnt even torture... Most of the units that are well distinguished goes through that in SFG, as part of training... Before underwater combat training, they start you by drowning you few times so you get use to the panic and find a way to calm down, because you burn more oxygen and energy when you in panic state. One of the greatest strength a specialize unit posses/taught is a very relax state of mind in any situation...

With all do respect. People also get soo touchy... 3k people died or 10k people die or some one took machete to some ones' head or blew up a building with people in it... Does it really effect any one in a bigger picture. Peoples mundane lives stays the same. Tomorrow some people will get burn to death and some will die in car wreck, some will get shot for no reason, or get rape or kill there family because they cant stand to disappoint there families...

All i am saying just relax, may be i have seen way too many people disappear so i dont see the numbers as big deal. Nationalities dont matter... In the end just live your life and enjoy what moments you get... Unless you are part of the service that have to do clean ups, i dont think people should get so rile up about such minuscule things.

That's not waterboarding, that's drownproofing. Big difference. Waterboarding is a technique using a face covering and gallons of water to force the body into convulsions and heaving as if water were entering the lungs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waterboarding
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9G2wZ5A2zRA

Drownproofing is advanced water comfortability training; learning to get out of knots underwater, holding your breath for minutes, being attacked while underwater and having you scuba ripped off you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drownproofing

i dont know how to reply... i will try to avoid detail stuff. Basically you are immobilize and your air way passages are cover with water absorbent material, and water is pour constantly, giving you feeling you drowning and about to die. Thats about it in a nutshell. All you need to do is relax and not fight and it wont even be a torture more or less :D.

As for Drownproofing its a floating tech, not part of underwater combat training, things may have changed now not sure... But it was basic before training. But the whole idea of that tech is to keep you afloat while you arms and legs are binded. not stay in combat underwater while you out of air...

EDIT: grrrrr lol you added those link and took out the pressure point things you said... i didnt have to type soo much

Anyone here been waterboarded? Training.......real interrogation.....lose a bet? It's scary as hell but it's not what I would consider torture.

In training, you can trust your interrogators to stop. You KNOW you're just getting a demonstration, deep down in your bones. Let an Al-Quaida operative do that to you in Middle-Eastern hidey-hole somewhere, and see how relaxed you can be! The experience is not equivalent in any way.
