I don't give a fuck about the White House at this point, the thing that disturbs me most is the senate. Looks like the Dems are on the way to a super majority. I wouldn't want that kind of power in the hands of my own party. Scary, scary stuff.

No matter what, the the Republicans did it to themselves and the American voting public is making its choice clear. It will be interesting how the Democrats act with the power, no doubt about that.

There'll be no appreciable change. The corporations and special interests are the ones that effect real change because they call the shots with dems or repubs. Corruption is corruption, no matter if you paint it red or blue. And a pissed off public...............well we'll see what that looks like here shortly.

Here comes the smug... I congratulate you, enjoy your moment. But you're talking to the guy who voted for Clinton twice. Kinda hard to pin the zealot pin on me, I'm a moderate and always have been.

*takes in a deep breath* This feels so fucking good right now, if only you McCain voters could feel what us Obama voters are feeling right now.

Anyway, its finally over, after 2 long years and over $1billion spent America has elected its next president.

I have to officially go on record as saying the amount of money spent on this campaign is pretty disgusting. The fact it costs so much to run and win an election is simply anti-democratic. That said, Obama probably would have won either way.

Totally scary. Same old same old I guess.

Still, you've gotta prefer things breezing though the senate because of a legitimate majority as opposed to that of a senate sufficiently frightened that it simply does what it's told. :\\

I think the SCARIEST thing of all is Al Franken actually projected to win his senate seat.... wtf?

Is it even possible for Dems to get the 60seat now?

I can't say much for Franken's politics (because I don't know what they are) but he seems like a stand up guy.

Sorry, Republican voters, I'm not going to feel any sympathy for your loss.

The results have shown that this country has turned a corner. That we've decided not only are we mature enough a nation to not elect a white man to our highest office but that we've said that the course of the past 8 years is not alright.

Those saying they're fearful of a Democrat supermajority need to relax as really, the country has said that we want the problems and issues caused by the Republicans to be fixed.

This is the country saying that we want a new path.

And yet from what I see the Ban on Gay Marriage is going into effect in most states... (So far) WA did get assisted suicide!

John McCain's concession speech was actually good, and I'm so so happy that he gave the crowd a stern look when they tried that boo-ing bullshit they have become famous for in the last 10 weeks.

Sucks about Prop 8, that will make life for gays in CA that much harder until that's overturned. There's no way a ban on gay marriage can last forever. It's a moral issue that absolutely discriminates a significant percentage of the population. It'll take a while to figure out though.
