We shall have a west coast meet at ivwshanes place! 20 minutes away from sac sounds like a close drive to me
I've decided to go in another direction with the cab and will be converting it to something like this:
^^WTF is wrong with you!?!?!? you better not. i hope your joking, lol because that cab looks horrible,
jeebus.. how can someone build such a large cabinet and stuff a little 13" monitor in there.. STUPID.
Here is another little update. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to mount and tie everything down (wood related). I've figured out how I'm going to attach the speaker shelf and still be able to take it apart when needed, now I just need to figure out how to hold down the control panel box. I have an idea for the cp top so it's just a matter of finding it at a hardware store. Here is a pic of the cp top with a rough idea of how I want the buttons laid out. What do you guys think? Do you see any potential issues?
Are you familiar w/ threaded inserts? nice for disassembly. Nice work, Itake it that is an older photo?
damn, if i were to build a cab, it would be this style.. ive seen many and i hate most except this style i dont see anything wrong with the layout, pretty simple, common and efficient
Yes but I have no idea where I would put them (mount them). Right now if looks like brackets are the way to go but holding power is my main concern. What do you mean by older photo?
I'm pretty much done painting and unfortunately the quality isn't where I want it to be but I hate painting so it will have to do. Here is a shot of the paint, you can still see the roller marks
I still need to get some plexi on the control panel (then I can finish off the t-molding around the cp) and get the marquee setup as well as get glass for the monitor. From there it's all wiring and computer setup.
Looks good, What kind of paint did you use, oil base or latex? maybe a different application, foam roller or thinning the paint would help.
First I used a gloss latex and over that I put on quite a few coats of polycrylic sanding down using 220 grit. No matter what I did I could not get the poly to be even (drips and such), I tried brushing it on, spraying (air), canned spray, and a foam brush, none of them worked:| So I sanded it down to 600 grit and just used rustoleums painters touch gloss black enamel and put it on using a foam roller. It came out with a nice texture (similar to that of melamine). Anyways, it's good enough and should be covered with some side art eventually.
nice spray booth! it looks great but i still think an electric blue or red tmoulding woulda really "popped" that really does look like an authentic arcade cab from the mid-late 90's lovin it dude, thats exactly, and i mean EXACTLY how i want mine to be designed.
Once I get the art going I think the t-molding I chose will be fine. However, t-molding is the easiest thing to change out so if I'm not happy its just a quick fix.
