Its how media works, small to big. To be honest I don't care if it costs us more money. We got fucked anyways with the bank bailout. Oh and the wars. So whatever. Call me disillusioned. I don't vote, didn't vote, am not registered to vote, so really I have no say in this argument. If what you are saying is the case, doesn't sound like you have it either. Quite frankly I have been against our government for some time, if I could I would move away to another country. Maybe I will when I get a chance. Oh, and I didn't say public option as in 'public option' I said the public has an option for medicaid and or subsidized plans depending on poverty level.
With regards to painting the tea party goers as idiots, I'd love to see some videos that show otherwise (specifically current videos because I believe the original Ron Paul tea party movement was a totally different beast than what we have today).
Blanketing all the Tea Party followers as nazis or redneck Christian radicals is like saying all of the liberals on the other side look like Chapels pic. Wait a minute.....
C'mon dude, do you honestly view everyone on the other side of the aisle this way? You must surround yourself with a pretty inbred bunch. No conservative friends at all? I don't agree with the liberals all the time but at least I'm not so hostile and uniformed about their views.
Where did I say that ALL tea party supporters are idiots? You guys stated that showing tea party attendees acting like idiots is not a good representation of the people that attend tea parties, that's fine, so where are those videos that back up your statement? Let's see a good representation of the tea party movement.
Why would people make a video and publish it of peaceful protesting? Seems pretty boring to me. You are blanketing a group of people. Whether it's intentional or not is a different story.
It's not like I'm a fervent teaparty supporter, I just see the constant ad hominem etc. and have to call bullshit. also, whats the government running? Medicare and medicaide. But they are expanding. Not to mention new and stricter regulations on business as well as insurance companies. Freedoms will also be restricted. People will be required to have insurance coverage. If they do not, they will face fines. Employers will not be "required" to provide insurance to it's employees, but if they don't they will have to pay fines. add this loss of freedom, in with more regulation, and more subsidies and kickbacks, as well as increased government spending. FUCK THAT NOISE.
People don't document protests? Why wouldn't the tea party document their own movement? Why wouldn't they document it to, at the very least, offer a counter perception to the negative videos that are out there now? Do you really believe people don't document peaceful protests? Hell I even searched for "peaceful protest" and it yielded some results (I didn't see any that involved the tea party movement though). http://video.google.com/videosearch...&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wv&q=peaceful protest
Nice, no loons in these but morons none the less. "Lower taxes!" What taxes have been raised since Obama has been in office? "Let the economy recover on it's own." Why was there an overwhelmingly majority of economist suggesting government intervention at the end of 2008 and in the beginning of 2009? I don't know about you but I'd trust an economist before I'd listen to some random tea party goer.
yes, an overwhelming number of supporters for bailouts... http://faculty.chicagobooth.edu/john.cochrane/research/Papers/mortgage_protest.htm and that was the very first google link.
Lol 387 economist say otherwise (versus 232). Date November 2008 http://www.cepr.net/documents/publications/Economists_letter_2008_11_19.pdf http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dy...AR2009020702159.html?nav=rss_email/components
You didn't say it, you implied it. And you keep implying it (see sentence #2). And you never answered my question - you have no conservative friends? It's relevant because it helps to explain how you behave in this sort of discussion - one sided and bigoted. Diversity in opinion is a good thing, don't retard yourself socially.
Well everyone, it looks like the bill is going to pass. Vote hasn't been held yet, but they are saying they have more than enough votes now. Hopefully this actually helps.
No I didn't imply it, you assumed it. I've never seen you not be one sided and bigoted so when you start taking your own advice I might start taking you serious. With regards to your "question", most of my friends are uninformed on most political issues so my point of view comes from research and information gathered from many sources including this board. I've made many posts looking for different points of view and every time without fail you ASSUME I have some agenda to my questioning. The problem is that you are one sided and are not capable of being unbiased or seeing things from different view points which is why you question my intentions every time, you assume that if I don't have your same beliefs that I must be trying to push my own agenda when in fact I am looking for diversity.
fox, fox, fox, fox.... I'm not particularly looking for the type of news msnbc is giving me. </ end stereotypical voice from guy in the video>
OK, can we take a vote on this? Hands up who believed he was implying that all Tea Party goers were ignorant morons? Seems pretty clear to me but perhaps I was mistaken. As for the remainder of your post, I invite people to go back and read these discussions going back for a long time and make their own conclusions.
So that's not an implication? You're saying that without video evidence you believe that tea party members are idiots. Edit: I just don't understand how so many dem's were up in arms over the patriot act but Obama can hand over all over our personal/medical info to the IRS to store and it's ok.
Was I supposed to agree with it? I offered something contrary to what he posted. Is his post more factual than mine? His videos showed 3-4 different people and I acknowledged that the people in his videos weren't crazy loons like the people in the other videos but they were still uninformed (which I then proceeded to back up my statement).
Because it was in response to this post: You guys claimed that media wasn't showing a good representation of the folks at the tea parties and I was asking for a good representation, which I then clarified in this post:
Did he imply it .....Yea so hand up. Do I want government run healthcare....no so hand down. This will be the only time I can vote on that and it doesn't even matter.
No you didn't. You said a majority of economists support the bailouts. I provided a hefty list of those that don't. And that was just a quick google search, I'm certain if I dug deeper I would find even more. Is your list of economists better than mine? I don't know. But what has the bailout done aside from supersize our deficit? has it increased the number of jobs? as many as 2/3rds of economists don't believe it has. http://www.jsonline.com/business/82657582.html http://www.newsweek.com/id/202237 Why is it considered "moronic" and "uninformed" to call for the government to cut spending in times of economic crisis? We are all facing tough times, and when we do we tighten our belts. Why should the government be any different? Is that moronic? Not according to economists who study Hayek or Mises. Pretty much the only people who support deficit spending and more government controls are keynesian economists. Obama has not raised taxes. Yet. He is poised to let tax cuts expire, however. This would be akin to raising taxes. Also, how is the government going to lower the massive deficit that Bush's and Obama's administrations have gotten us into? The government certainly shows no signs of reigning in spending. The only way is either hyper inflation, or increase taxes. So either Obama's raising them, or he'll leave it for another administration. Either way, it has to be done now.
Hand up I'm not for this bill. I don't see many politicians getting reelected if it does pass. If it succeeds, great. If not, it's going to suck a lot of money out of a shitty economy.
