If you can not handle dark comedy, don't read this.

It's absolutely understandable that Comedy Central will not air this joke, but props to Jeffrey Ross for a) delivering it, and b) owning it without some BS comedian apology.

Poli correctness is the death of free speech everywhere. Sensitivity to the plight of others should not be legislated/leveraged. Else it's not a sinceritything any longer, it's a legal coersion issue and not genuine.

I'm dealing with this right now. I am going through a school right now (started a new job, as a Radiological Control Technician). This is a mixed class, of civilian and military that are from all over the US (Hawaii, Maine, Washington State, and two different shipyards here in Virginia). We have one gay guy in our class. Now, we all pretty much get along and have no issues with one another. But, the gay guy takes EXTREME offense to the word faggot. He takes it to the far extreme. For instance, one of the instructors was joking around with us. She used to be active duty Navy, but got out and became an instructor as a civilian. She was joking around about us "Submarine Fags" in a joking manner, and the gay guy almost got her fired because he took offense to it. Then, last week, one of the military guys was chatting with another military guy and accidentally said the word Faggot (not in reference to the gay guy, and not meant to be offensive in any way). The military guy that said it immediately took the gay guy outside and apologized (authentically), which was overheard by an instructor. The following day we were drawn into a big wig's office at the school, who told us that if another person slips up he will have our job. He said we will never win an argument when it is us military against civilians (we have no rights, they have unions).

It's absolute bullshit. Why is it that one man's opinion can threaten the career of everyone around him, just based upon his opinion even when what is being said is not towards them, has nothing to do with them, and isn't even being told to him.

Just a few more weeks to keep my head low and this will all be over....

If he doesn't like the word faggot you have to be accommodating. Try using 'poo pusher' instead.

FWIW, I take extreme offense to the word "faggot."

Even when gay or gay friendly-people say it... just makes me uncomfortable. It does completely depend on context, of course, and tone and intention. I don't mind the word "fag" quite as much. I guess it's similar to hearing someone say "the Jew girl" vs "the Jewish girl."

Even if it's not directed *at* him, it's still related to him and I'm sure makes for a hostile work environment (or at least in his mind). Regardless of how you treat someone personally... if they're still hearing fag jokes and slurs, it affects them.

"The right to swing your fist ends where the other man’s nose begins."

It's hate speech. If you and your buddies want to joke around and call each other whatever that's fine but the line is drawn around others. That said, I got called a cracker a few months back and just burst out laughing, I had no idea people actually used the phrase.

People need to just chill the fuck out on both the giving and recieving end of speech.
It's giving free speech a bad name much the same as the Sikh shooter gives the gun ownership
    a bad name.
Hostility needs to be tempered with concern for others and sen-si-tivvvv-i-teee needs to just go away.
This isn't 'the land of the free' unless it's the 'land of the free' for both sides of any given issue.

People have gotten way, way too sensitive and fragile. Our grandfathers and great grandfathers are rolling over in their graves at the pussy world in which we live right now.

For anyone who has been harmed by my words, here's something that will relieve your pain:

Some words are quite offensive no matter the context....but one word can affect people in different ways.

Like the word cunt.....I think it's a funny word but so many of my friends cringe at the thought of it.

Yeah, the real world looks and sounds a lot different when the political correctness is filtered out. Same people, same thinking, same everything, only without a fancy fake wrapping.

I'm not trying to draw big comparisons between the pains and tragedy of hundreds of years of enslavement and people having to live in fear of what they prefer in the bedroom but... What is the difference between racial hate speech and sexual preference hate speech? Are guys also upset that you can't say nigger around people who might be offended by it?

I don't think so. I think what may upset a few is having to watch every single word out of fear of offending someone. What kind of freedom is that?
What kind of freedom can anyone expect when there is so much hate in the world? Hate is the problem and it simply cannot be coersed out of existence.
Time and history has proven that. It's a chicken or egg thing. What perpetuates the crap? Uttering hate speech or reacting to hate speech? Speech of any kind is a waste
of time if it falls upon deaf/unreacting ears. people need to just get thicker skin and take what they can use and ignore the rest. Both sides of any equation need to learn to "live and let live".
Hate speech is one thing, but when a person cannot voice their opinion in a non-violent, non-hate way then it's a censorship of the mind. I don't hate much of anything.
There are things I don't agree with and it's just as wrong to attempt to prevent me from talking about what it is I do not agree with as it is to persecute a group for what it is
they do or believe. Freedom of speech is a two way street. When it is not, it is censorship. The hate factor screws up the whole thing (two way street) but it's being used as a manipulation to hush up non hate speech. It's gotten to where when a person voices an opinion it's concidered "hate" if a group doesn't agree with what is said.

Think of faggot like the word nigger, you just don't say it. Unless the word is nigga, so I guess faggo, fagga, fagge... might be acceptable.
