My mom has the curve and I love it. I think a rule of thumb from now should be no touch screen phones.
i'll drink to that. i've been on a curve for a while now, hopefully i never have to upgrade (I had my last phone for about 4 years)
I actually like the Storm. It's the software that is the problem on the verizon version. We use Blackberrys at work and a lot of people have Storms. I upgraded one of the guys' Storm to the "beta" software that isn't out yet for verizon and he said it was like a night and day difference. So once that software comes out, it will make it a fantastic device. Hell, I'd get it if it was on t-mobile (still rather have an iphone though).
Are any of you using an updated OS on the Storm? Verizon doesn't officially support the new OS updates from RIM, but they work considerably better than the shit Verizon is forcing everyone to use. The only problem I ever have with my Storm is slight screen lag since I upgraded. It's never frozen on me at all, and you can get an app called quickpull on the app store that will simulate a battery pull. I set it up to do it daily at 4am and the phone runs fine.
Bullshit. Nokia made the best phone I've owned. It survived hundreds of drunk encounters with water and the ground, and hundreds more sober encounters. Including going to the bottom of a pool, into a lake, and into a river. That thing was indestructible. Right now I'm rocking my PPC 6700. It's not nearly as tough as my old Nokia, but a good heavy brick phone. Way better than my old Rumor(that thing broke constantly).
How did you put the new OS on? And where would you recommend getting it? Thanks for the quick pull heads up I'm downloading it now.
Am I the only person who doesn't give a crap about phones? If it can make calls and take a picture every once in a while, that's all I need....
This is probably your best bet on getting started. N00B HELP GUIDE: Upgrade/Downgrade, Backing up, BRICKED STORM!!! Your FULL Resource! - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com It's all really simple and very automated which is really nice. I'm running v4.7.0.132, but others have mentioned other versions are more stable. There's also a lot of guides for memory usage and power suggestions for better battery life. **EDIT** Upon further reading, Verizon is FINALLY releasing an official update tomorrow which is v.148. It's supposed to be a pretty dramatic increase in performance and battery life. http://www.informationweek.com/blog...l;jsessionid=XRMUZANIOHIZ2QSNDLRSKHSCJUNN2JVN http://forums.crackberry.com/f132/4...ll-you-choose-go-official-leak-hybrid-237468/
It's what happens when you buy a company's first attempt at touchscreen. I love my Curve; I knew better than to get that Storm shit. This. The iphone is pretty neat though.
super chris.. look. 6.5 on the 6700, lol that damn phone is still going strong. i shoulda kept mine just to play around with. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=58497
. I'm really happy with my Sony Ericsson w580i. It's really solid and does way more than i need. Heck, it has a pedometer! I use it when I run. It tells me how many miles I ran, the average speed, top speed, and approximately how many calories I burned. But overall, it's a really basic phone.
I'm in Fiddy's state of mind too, except I find photos a waste too. However, my new phone has an MP3 player built in which I thought was really cool; I don't use it though... at all. Text and call for me. I love my friends with iPhones and Blackberries that can surf and get email online; if I didn't need to download media like F1 and MotoGP, other shows, etc; I'd probably ditch a PC altogether and just surf on my phone
Anyone else having issues with updating their BB Storms? It keeps telling me I don't have the 22mb free to do the update while my phone says I have 700+mb free on the device and an 8 gb mini sd card. I'm about to slam this thing against the wall ](*,)
Actually it finally started going. I'm excited this is supposed to patch most issues I have with it. I hope I finally get the phone I thought I was buying 4 months ago.
Nah. Through the PC the process takes about 20 minutes for the first one and 10 minutes for each one after that.
