So Lord Kain, you hear anything about these new electronic cigarettes? I've been doing some reading and it doesn't appear there has been a lot of study, I wonder if they're safer?

And what ever happened to those alcohol inhalers that were out a while back, anybody ever try one?

Well really the unhealthy part of smoking is the smoke itself, or at least that is the cancer causing part, not the nicotine, so remove the smoke and you have removed probably 95% of the negative health effects (number out of thin air). Granted nicotine itself is poison (and deadly in high concentration) on it's own in low doses it's fairly harmless from what I understand. And really a cigarette is just a nicotine delivery device. One that comes with tons of poison smoke as a side effect.

Yeah, to me it seems fairly harmless. I just don't want to encourage my wife away from one deadly habit and into another one.

But she already has the habit (nicotine) so think of this as harm reduction which can lead to quitting down the road hopefully.

My (now ex) girl had one of those electronic cigarettes from Smoking Everywhere. The battery on them dies very fast, and you're only supposed to take 2 or 3 hits at a time, then put it away. Although I tried it, as a social smoker I even thought it didn't cut it. You still want a cigarette because it's not satisfying enough. And the filters(cartridges) don't last as long as they probably should, not to mention they aren't that cheap.

I don't know, overall it seems like a waste of money to me. But the vanilla ones taste really damn good. :D

I think quitting smoking for 4 days made my respitory system weaker and more susseptible (sp?) to contracting the flu. I'm on day 5 with the flu. FML...

I like the smell of pipe smoke. Never tried it myself. Cigars and cigarettes just stink to me.

If you look at what happens to your immune system, blood pressure and lungs immediately after quitting smoking and immediately restarting again, you may see otherwise.

I've got a funny smoking related story going. My wife had a relapse and was bringing home a few smokes from her Mom's house almost every night. So I told her "You bring any more smokes in or cheat and you're going halvies on my movie projector..." She agreed and hasn't brought any home in weeks. In reality I sorta hope she cheats, the projector I'm looking at is $1600.

How will you actually know for sure if does/doesn't cheat?

This. My wife and I are totally honest with one another. She's got flaws, but I would trust her with my life.
