I still haven't decided if I should stay home and skip my first class to watch it, or watch it at school somewhere.... Either way I'm taking a celebratory shot of whiskey.
YouTube - A.P.T. Song # 5 - Obama Obama (Lil Wayne "A Milli" Remake) The ORIGINAL Video!! I dunno how may times I got this sent to me today....
Some thing that troubled me when i saw the preparation for his inauguration. They are spending so much money, where as the country is going through such a hard time. To me that just not justifiable. And the security they just using is insane. Beside Submarines. His security detail rival Pope's security. He even get completely different tank on wheels (presidential limo). They are more worried about white supremist groups.
To be fair, this happens for every President and I wouldn't be surprised if there was an allocation somewhere for "Inaguration Funds - Special Security Detail)
compared to past presidential inaugurations obama's is somewhat less expensive (still 150 million is a good chunk of change) and the limo is replaced every 8 years, and no doubt each time its changed with different features to evolve to the weapons of the time. it would be the same whether mcain/palin was elected
Heh, brilliant. You know the song it's based off, right? As for the cost of it, as Lurker said this happens for every president no matter what. And I think it is an honest cause for celebration. Not just because it is Obama, but because it should be a celebration of the democratic process. But back to why this one is especially worthwhile, is because people need a big 'pick me up' at this time, because it's not only good for our spirits, if it inspires people to get out and do good works, it will be good for the country in the long run.
I heard it in many news that his security is way more then any president has ever received. Even if the other group was elected they wouldnt have gotten this level of security. Unprecedented security as Obama set for White House
Black man being elected for the first time ever in a nation where a significant part of the population either doesn't agree with his politics or thinks someone of his race should be at that level of government and you're surprised with the security? I'm frankly more astounded that they've let him take his train ride considering the huge nightmare his inauguration already seems to be security-wise.
$150 mil is 4x what Bush spent... and he wasn't in a recession. Seems like an awesome way to start his term. :/ He would have really impressed me if he had spent very little on his inauguration. I'm also more excited about the Steelers making the Super Bowl than I am another white guy being President.
Well the original certainly is a little hard to understand, yah That said this Obama version matches up with the original syllable for syllable pretty damn well. Impressive.
I heard something similar regarding Obama's Secret Service support, generally stating that since there was a good chance of him running for president he was alloted SS support prior to the "normal" time-frame though I don't see anything wrong with that. There's an obvious threat out there to such a man becoming President and for the Security for him to exercise his right to run, I can see funding more money for just that. It's hapened before for other Presidents and extremist groups.
Where do justify your comment as to whether he's getting more/less funding than normal? Is that based on just by what you see or do you have numbers? I'm curious.
Well given the current economic condition of the country, to spend 170mill on that is just seem not right. What Recession? The $170 Million Inauguration
the bank government is dolling out millions upon billions of dollars to banks, 124m is chump change when your deficit is in the 10's of trillions. im pretty sure that spending that kind of money on the inauguration of the first mixed race president is to be expected and the gov is more than happy to foot the bill
I see your point sa far as alot more money is being spent in this President's inauguration, but I see alot of the abnormal excess being spent on third party companies (ie: private sector). This kind of "excessive spending" is what the economy needs right now: Pumping Federal money back into the private sector is actually a good move for Gov't. It gives people jobs and eventually makes its way back out into the local economies. Sure alot of the money spent is funded by the Federal Gov't but alot of that 170M is also outsourced back into the private sector. Money spent by the gov't just doesn't disappear, it moves.
^^ right! that money is going right back into taxpayers hands and paychecks so it makes no difference.
