im getting boned on my bill hardcore! basically they sent me a 500$ bill, our normal bill is around 100 bucks, which includes our regular plan, text messaging for both of us, and internet for me. i use internet on my phone often, like 6-12 times a day, browsing forums and what not. i rack up about 10 mb a month of data, on the bill it shows up saying that my girlfriend used 40 mb in a period of about 3 days costing 1 cent a kb, equaling about 400$. ive called them and bitched at them saying she doesnt use the internet and its ridiculous that she could never use that much data that quick and the best they will do is cut the charges in half if i sign her up for a data plan, and they said if i didnt take the offer then they wouldnt offer it again, so i said fuck that. how the hell do i get out of this? these are clearly bogus charges
per KB charges are extortion, i turned off data access to my phone last year. internet on a phone is good for two things, checking work email and the occasional maps.google.com lookup for directions but *gasp* you can just do that when you get to your computer.
It's all about Sprint, my friend. $50/month for 1250 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited nights and weekends and unlimited 3G internet.
Exactly how are the charges bogus? On the bill what does it say the charges are from? How do you know your girl wasn't using the internet or some other application that used the internet?
sprint is god when it comes to data plans.. but imma play devils advocate for a second.. you said you dont have a data plan.. why are you using any internet and data usage when your not on a dedicated unlimited data plan??? those overages are insane i agree with you and commend you for at least trying to waiver it down with them... but shit.. sounds like you need to opt out. Call them 5-10 times a day and complain about nothing. They'll cancel you without you having to pay a disconnect fee.. or is that sprint im thinking of?? if anyone wants internet on their phone, sprint is the way to go.. i use my phone as a modem when my comcast is down and its pretty fuckin swift for what it is.. no overages or problems from sprint either..
looks like ill be switching to sprint, my girlfriend doesnt know how to use the internet, and doesnt. if it was her using the internet it is impossible she would rack up this much data this fast.heres the bill, you guys dont think this looks wrong, mine vs. hers
40MB in 3 days on a regular cell phone? ya that's about impossible. cingular is terrible for billing (well and a lot of other things IMHO). I'd switch. I love T-Mobile but they do have a smaller footprint and no 3G yet so it just depends on if they have coverage where you need it and if 3G is a need for you. Sprint would be my second choice. I had them and loved them at the time. Only reason I switched was because my g/f has t-mobile and it ends up being way way cheaper for me to go onto her family plan.
No thats not impossible, I used to use 200MB a month on my non pda phone all the time. Its impossible to accidentally use 8MB in one session. Again she doesn't have to use the internet to rack up data charges, she could be using streaming video/radio, she might even have email setup. The only other possibility is that someone got a hold of her phone and used it. Under direct bill downloads what is listed? What phone does she have?
She doesnt use the internet, i understand that alot of programs use the internet but she does not... I tried again this morning and got somebody with some common sense and hes filing some dispute thing for me and they are supposed to get back to me in a day or two...
