Yeah and Blu Ray @ 1080P on a 52" LCD at 120Mhz is fucking awesome! At 6ft. or 30ft. you CAN......I repeat CAN see a huge difference. Maybe my eyes are just different than some of you guys.

I saw a 1080P display of Spiderman3 at a local store....they were running the movie on a PS3 btw, and it got my attention from 120' away! I just had to go see it. It was almost perfect 3D. My wife was dragged by the hand all the way acrost the store kicking and screaming. I pointed out the 1080P movie and she asked what it was. Up until that point she thought I was nutz for wanting a BR player. It blew her sox off. Planet Earth in BR is the only way I'll pay for those docs.

What makes that Blu Ray look so life like is the video processor speed. Most likely 120mhz but now the new ones (LCD wise) are at 240mhz. It also looks even more spectacular if the film was recorded digitally. Can't wait for Star Wars when it comes out.

What about a BR drive (assuming you have an HTPC)? Gives you the ability to do *cough* archival back-ups, assuming you want to mess with it *cough*AnyDVD Deluxe*cough*. A simple non-writing drive is relatively cheap.

I got the Toshiba upscaling DVD player, too. Though there were reports on Newegg that they were flimsy, I went ahead and got one based on the rec of a friend and so far it's great.

BTW, I also got a 50" plasma (Panasonic 1080p) and love it, too.

oh snap. i'm fixin on getting this to replace my aging plasma on Sept 4th. What do you think of it so far? How is the glare?
I had a $5,000 LG plasma for 4 years until it "popped", so I was kinda against LG but for that price, who cares.

I sit 12 feet away from the tv in my living room so 1080P is useless.

Let me know what you think!

I also was contemplating last week getting the Insignia 720P 50: Plasma because it was all the way down to 699! Plus they upped their warranties to 2 years.

The PS3 is loud? No it's not.

I've messed around with some other Blu Ray players and I've noticed a huge delay in the menu system. FF, RWD, Moving through the menus, etc. The PS3 is very quick with zero lag.

Magnavox = no go. Plus NetFlix streaming is a must-have for me.

If you're strapped for cash, it's OK, but don't expect wonders.
