The word blog comes from the 'web log' Unless I am mistaken, this is a forum thread on a web log on the intertubes, hence a blog. This argument reminds me of a debate I once had at the San Diego Super Computer Center back in the 80's. This is in fact a blog.
Actually web forums originated from the BBS systems from the 70s. The term "web log" and "blog" didn't even exist until the mid 90s. BBS/Forums predate blogs.
I sense massive amounts of smug coming from our centrist friend. The whole "holier than thou" attitude is what put everybody on the path to knock you off your high horse. You stand your ground though, it just can't be possible for you to be wrong. Oh and just because you say your name is John P. Reisman doesn't mean you really are him. That name is visible on anything associated with the centrist party and you could be some random person trying to stir the pot. Excuse us if we would rather keep our names private.
I wasn't even trying to argue with you. You were wrong so I corrected you. Why you can't just admit you were wrong and we move on? Is it such a horrible thing to be wrong?
@James K, I was unaware of the fact that he used an email address associated with the website. Either way, it surprises me that he has enough time to argue with you guys over such trivial things.
And Bubbles cuts to the chase! For the record this is a forum. A group discussing topics. A blog is an outlet for a single person. We've had a few people who've tried to turn Tweak into a blog and they've either been ruin off or ignored en masse.
Yes, lets talk about the centrist party. I love parties, I'll bring the beer. par·ty/ˈpärtē/ Verb: Enjoy oneself at a party or other lively gathering, typically with drinking and music.
But my beer says I'm part of the 5.5%? Fuck this... I'm gonna go occupy 7/11. Hey check out the NEW Rollins video guys!
This place is going to croak without new people. There is no sense of humor here anymore, only an eager willingness to jump down people's throats. Give the new guy a chance to say something rather than constantly have a need to defend himself. There was a time when azns on a bus, toilets overflowing, rap wars and all your base was funny and got a lot of mileage here. The way it is today, you'd all call BS on the azns, rag on the guy with the toilet problems, and correct the grammer of the bases catch phrase. In summation: you all are missing out on a huge oportunity for some laughs here.
Wah Wah fuckin wah... Seriously. People here are the same as always. YOU are growing apart. Realize that and deal with it. We put you through the same hell and if the forums went back that far (they don't) I'd post a thread to prove it to you. I remember calling you out myself in like 2002/3. The guy came in here thinking his stupid "Centrist Party" name would carry him, just because of crap pages any one of us can host on the web. Then he got obnoxious and ignorant. Then he went as far as to insult regulars and people of authority on this FORUM. Yeah, I will not miss him. If you're so butthurt about it though Wiskas, you might want to tag along. You seem like you don't like this forum anyway. Your dark cloud is visible to us all... Not saying I want you to skidadle but do what makes you happy. I hate to see you so unhappy all the damn time. There it is. I said what everyone else was thinking but didn't want to say. Where's my goddamn outro music? Ah...
I rest my case. This is less like T3D and more like HardOCP The last two years. I'm not all that "unhappy" because I'm willing to mention what nobody wants to hear. I'm not obliviously joyous, but I'm not all that unhappy. You pride yourself in calling BS on members here. What's wrong with me calling BS on society as a whole? I don't believe people here are "the same as always". Could be that our guys and gals are simply growing up and having priorities change. I realize it's a natural evolution of living. That doesn't mean I don't miss the lighter times when ROTFLMAO meant just that. Literally rolling on the floor. Duh, the new guy got arrogant and defensive. But I have to point out that things really changed after his third post. Not the first. Does anyone here deny that there was a concerted effort to give the guy shit after that point? I'm not all that convinced that ensuing tit-for-tat wasn't just a attack/defend exchange from that point forward. I'm not defending or condemning anyone, it's just what I saw which may, or may not be accurate.
ORLY? I really don't. I pride myself in doing and saying whatever the hell is on my mind, whether people like it or not. You have had to realize that by now. That would be a generalization. People are individuals and personalities/attitudes differentiate from person to person. Therein lies the conflict. You agree. Good. I think you are/were trolled. I wanted to slap his smug ass after his first post and most definitely after his second. I somehow wonder I'm not the only one here who has learned such restraint in dealing with such... well... (lets call spades, spades) Trolls.
new guy didn't get defensive, he was offensive, he was arrogant about his views and the way he presented them from the start, he started to talk down to just about every one and had to have the last word on everything, and backed everything up he said with his million dollar dictionary... We always attack new members, it's what we do, give em shit, and see their reaction, he reacted poorly so he got more shit, i don't see any problem here wiskas? If he really wants to share something he should, but i haven't witnessed anything besides a website he mentioned, and his 'real' name. If he really wanted to share and have a discussion, he wouldn't waste his time(wrongfully) defending the definition of a forum or liberalism, he would discuss and share, if that is his purpose or intention he should ignore the little jabs swung at him, you do don't ya wiskas?
Like I said, I wasn't defending his posts. On the same token, I was wishing we'd get more laughs out of the situation rather than the feeding frenzy that took place. A situation like that used to be cause for some real heady situational comedy. You know, toy with the mouse before devouring it. The point I was attempting to make was that it seems that it used to be a lot more fun loving and close knit here than it is now.
