I've never really watched them other than when the nominee speaks. So far it's all been saber rattling and Obama sucks (to be expected). Lots of ironic moments of "we built this without government" and then they go on about how they got help from the government (not directly of course but if you look up the facts behind the claims you see that government help was involved). I stil have yet to hear any specifics on romneys policies (maybe that's the norm). It will be interesting to see what the DNC convention looks like and if it's any different.
I won't spend much time watching a bunch of people saying what they know a bunch of other people want to hear and then applauding about it. A debate is what I'll spend time on though.
The press is having a field day with Ryan's speech. Check out this fox news headline: http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/08/30/paul-ryans-speech-in-three-words/ Dazzling, deceiving, and distracting This was posted before last nights event but it's about freaken time the press starts doing its job: http://m.washingtonpost.com/blogs/p...c6-87dfa8eff430_blog.html?tid=pm_opinions_pop
Both conventions will be a waste of time. The two parties are so similar and dysfunctional I can't muster up enough give-a-fuck to even read highlights.
Hrm... no women above a secretarial position, no gays in public, Cold War arms race, suburban sprawl, widespread use of untested chemicals, denouncing your opponents as Communists and inserting religion into everything including the Pledge of Allegiance? Sign me up!
Lol, I don't think anything at these conventions could be considered a "highlight". It will be interesting to see what the dems do at their convention. The republican convention seems to have mirrored Romney, that is, say anything to get elected whether its a lie or not. Hell their convention slogan, "we built that", is based on an out of context speech Obama gave. This election will be decided by the swing voters, the question I have is are they smart enough to ignore the BS and lies or will they be persuaded by them. I don't have very high hopes.
No. I am not, have not, and will not watch them. Nor do I listen to the news reports on them. If I did, I'd probably destroy my television in a fit of uncontrolled rage. A Pox (small, not chicken) on all their houses! Fie!
Holy crap! You guys should have watched tonight's event, Clint Eastwood gave a speech and it was a disaster!

I'm just happy that the overwhelming police presence kept the stupid anarchists from burning down my condo.
I'm with Goofus, the whole mess puts me into a rage. And just think, in four years, we get to do it all over again.
I will not watch these conventions! I will not watch whoever runs! I will not look, nor will I hear, lest I be hooked, and live in fear! Turns of (edit: "off") Seuss-a-phone.
Or you can get your tickets in advance and watch The DNC version on September 3rd. It was kind of dumb but, you would have received the same answers if Obama was actually in the chair as well. I liked the ticker they had that showed the national debt adding up. A great move on the RNC's part would have been to just cancel the Dog And Pony Show and have a brief news conference announcing, That would have been brilliant.
