    Yep. I'm just reading The 5,000 Year leap, which talks about the founding of our nation and why it was set up the way it is. And the founding fathers specifically spoke about situations just like this - where folks would be willing to give up civil liberties for security and an easier lifestyle. Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson actually went so far as to say that socialism and communism were unconstitutional.

    Personnaly, I think this is retarded.... I have a governmental plan and I don't think it's a hindrance, or a lack of freedom. I think the opinion stated in this article is an elitist way of seeing things. Back in the days of the forefathers of America, freedom was an issue, they wanted to get independant of the monarchy. I'm sure that if a "free" governmental health care plan would have been possible, they would have endorsed it, because it benefits the population. This statement from the article is the worst IMHO:

    2. Freedom to be rewarded for healthy living, or pay your real costs

    Rewarded for healthy living??? LMAO... being healthy goes with your lifestyle, of course. But it's also a matter of luck! You can get an accident, you can develop a rare disease, etc.

    Just go and stand at line at the BMV. Now go to any private business nearby. You'll likely stand in line at the BMV for a while, versus the private business will likely have no wait at all.

    I'm just saying that big government is something to be fearful of. The founders of our country tried to set up a balanced republic with tyranny on one side and anarchy on the other. A small government set up to take care of only those things that the individual and state government could not handle (national defense for example). Just know that socialization of any kind moves us closer to tyranny.

    I'm also really pissed about this new tobacco laws. If I want to smoke let me smoke, I'm not hurting anyone but myself.

    I'm not talking about that sort of downsizing. That was a bit rude don't you think?

    Well, you kid, but that is how civil liberties are destroyed. A little bit at a time. The government that can provide for you is also a government that can deny from you. A bigger federal government is more powerful, power breeds greed and corruption.... tyranny. With all the dissatisfaction with Congress I'm amazed people aren't pushing for less money and control being given to Washington. Organize on the state level, the local level. Those crooks can't be trusted with a dollar much less trillions.

    I wasn't kidding at all. I believe it and agree full-heartedly on what you have to say. People aren't pushing for less money, I think, because they're manipulated enough to think that it's for the good. They won't realize it until it's too late. Then everyone will whine "Where did we go wrong".

    Hey national health care sounds great to me!! I mean we're already doing but on a smaller scale with our Veterans Hospitals and those folks are well taken care of.

    Agreed, the government already does a great job managing our tax dollars. I swear I rarely see a penny wasted when it comes to Government run and funded projects.

    Huh. How many freedoms did we lose with all the security that was slapped in place in the name of war on terror? Everyone seemed fine with that.

    This list is pretty much nonsense.

    Are most Canucks unhappy with their healthcare system up there? Are Nordic countries riddled with tyranny?

    My friend........we're talking about the good ol' US of A. Canada does things in a more efficient manner and hasn't the corruption levels seen in your southern neighbor's capitol. ;

    This guy see's it, why can't other people:

    arms are not that hard to make. I realize that a big kai-baush was put on alot of weaponage recently. But, there are alternatives to "buying" arms.
    Do you think the amo shortage and crack-down has anything to do with this shit? [/:tinfoil:]
