Sometimes I think the language of some of these constitutional clauses were intentionally vague.
I guess, if the right to bear arms is absolute, how does one justify making it a crime for felons (or dangerous felons) to have guns. Or even kids?

Or complicated over the years by lawyers that wish to get around the intention of the original document in order to legislate what human nature and morals should be.
(IMHO) What we're seeing now are the consequences that were foreseen back when the document was written. Namely: A central government that has assumed
powers that were better left to/intended to be for the individual states.

Yeah the independent states sort of fucked up that responsibility with slavery and Jim Crow. It's a damn shame the people in the United States had to be protected from their own state governments, and if gerrymandering + voters rights is a thing, and if reproductive rights mean anything, they still do.

What's the intention of the original document?

At this point, even State Governments are too big and far removed from people, and we need to pare the governing down to at least County level, but then the larger Countries would eat our lunch and kick sand in our face, because we're too disorganized. :)

The Google says yes. I never watched another Nicolas Cage movie after The Weatherman and still maintain he owes me at least $10 for having suffered through it.

Dr. Richard Kimball was teh Fugertive.

It wasn't the New Deal that caused big government in the US, it was WWI. (measured in terms of proportion of federal spending to GDP) Damned Huns . . .

    Time to unstick the stickified?

I've never seen such a temper tantrum caused by something that hasn't happened yet.
It's not anything like the conservative's reactions to the last two cycles.
