Manslaughter. Of course, no one has been charged. The guy survives two tours in Iraq only to die in a Texas jail because some power-trippin' Billy Joe Bobs are too stupid to call 911.
You gotta think the other side too. Cops hear that shit all the time. They've probably gotten really jaded to demands for medical assistance. I'll tell you what's going to happen with all the protests and shit. Cops are just going to develop an attitude of "you people can police yourselves". It's already starting now: http://www.wnd.com/2015/05/murders-shootings-surge-in-baltimore/
I realize that, but that's no excuse. By that logic they can just claim they think everyone is crying wolf and never have to lift a finger. These assholes didn't even call 911 when the guy was on his back, non-responsive with shallow breathing, with his eyes open.
I'm not defending the actions at all. I'm just pointing out the unintended consequences of the 'us against them' way society has evolved in many areas. This is nothing new, it's been evolving for my whole life. Both sides of the equation are at fault.
Yeah it's too bad so many prisoners do cry wolf, because this is partly the result. That said, as militarized and roided as our law enforcement has become, maybe the wolf-crying doesn't really matter. I can't agree that protesters are at "fault" if their protesting causes the police to slack-off; that's on the police, though it's still an unintended consequence (obviously). I wonder if in some some neighborhoods the people can even notice if the police are slacking off.
The use of body cams is only a token bone thrown to the public. This is why: http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/pr...olice-shooting-videos/ar-BBkdj0i?ocid=U305DHP The real way to limit police agencies at the local level is that thing called a tax levy. The people that do not vote on them, loose their say. The thing that throws this concept into dysfunction are the federal programs and tax dollars that get thrown into the mix. The dollars that local citizens have no say in. Programs that offer military equipment, intel and training to local law enforcement need to be looked into. The only way I see for any persecuted population to change the system is from the inside. But how many inner city youth want to give up thugdom for being a cop? We have a conundrum.
