Go into Detroit or Chigago. There are " free range kids" everywhere. Cops don't care about them... While a agree with an initial "look into the issue", I think after they understood the circumstances CPS should have moved on to the next case. Unfortunately I believe that the current laws and regulations for CPS employees does not allow them to do that. That right there is the issue. The CPS worker is either too afraid to make their own judgement call or is not even allowed to do so by regulation. It can work both ways though. You don't want some screwed in the head CPS worker having the power to take your kids away based on their "findings". It should go before a "board" but i doubt every case could go before a board because of the amount ofresources that would be needed (qualified personnel) to carry that out.
Do you know where a huge percent of DHS/CPS workers come from in Oregon? They were once welfare cases that were encouraged to get the education by a grant for classes funded by state and federal funds. Lots of them were single moms that had a vendetta against men. There seems to be a culture of control issues with a lot of state agencies. That, or they just need to justify their jobs.
I find this terrifying. My kids are going to grow up not being able to do anything on their own because of shit like this. These people need to find a hobby or something
It's not going to stop unless people make it stop. Safety needs to be balanced with freedom. Sure, government can legislate safety measures. But at what point does safety actually interfere with having a life? Raising healthy kids is like having a compressed spring clenched in your hand. If you let go of it too quickly, it'll fly away out of control. On the other hand, if you keep it compressed too long, it'll become weak and ineffective. The trick is to figure out what amount and when to slowly let off on the compression so that the spring ends up still being a spring. Each spring is totally different. People that don't want the challenge either let their kids run amok, or let the state decide for them. It's real work to do it right and too many parents can't or won't do what it takes. So, here we are.
I suspect this is a hold over from the child abuse scare back in the day. Back then you could be arrested for looking at a child wrong. The children who were exposed to this hyper fear are adults now so it would be difficult for them to see the world with less fear than they were raised with. Anyone remember the pictures of missing children on milk cartons? That'll get your attention every time. Any who life goes on.
....go to a park/playground.....and you better be having a kid with you. It's all fine and dandy so long as parents accompanying kids foot the bills. How much government intrusion into private lives are people willing to tolerate? This all sounds like a concerted persecution thing when one considers that there have been other suspension issues with the same kid. WTF?
