My wireless was working one night and the next day it wasn't....I have a linksys e1200 wireless-n router and an Acer AspireOne netbook..... I'm just really confused and don't know what to do at all......any help would be great!!
MaesterB- I'm not sure! If it was the provider would I still be able to use the internet? 86mcss-I did that first and it didn't do anything, then I tried to do that so I'd have non-wireless internet and my non-wireless internet didn't work so I said fuck it and left it alone cuz my little tyke was getting all up in my business. Tried again the next day and the non-wireless worked. I ended up calling the Geek Squad and they said bring it in for $80 and we'll try to figure out the problem. I'm not paying someone something if I can do it myself, with some help from you lovely, helpful people (even though I got the Geek Squad to help me set the wireless up when I first got it )
If you can connect to your wireless router, but not get online, then it could possibly be the provider. If you can't connect to the router at all, then it's your router. I would say reset the router, but if you had the Geek Squad set shit up for you, then you'd REALLY be up shit creek without a paddle. I'd phone the provider and get them to run some tests on the box.
If you have any Ethernet wire, connect you computer with it. The wire will go in port behind router numbered 1to 4, and the other end in you computer(assuming your computer has ethernet port.). After connecting your computer, reboot your computer and see if you have internet working. If it is working, then log in your router and check on the settings. If not then you need to contact your ISP, just like MaesterB stated earlier. Not sure whats your router MFG, if you go the route of resetting the router, then make sure you have/know the default access password for you router.
I'm assuming it's Telus (being in BC). If that the case, they can sometimes be a bitch because they lock on to the MAC of whatever device (in this case the router) and won't assign a new IP to a device unless you call the buggers. Yes...we have too many retails in BC that we deal with, and this is a DAILY occurrence.
