I'm sure most of you have heard by now that The IPhone is joining The Verizon network in February. My Casio phone (which I love) is crapping out so should I get it or wait until Summer for the 5th Generation?

Frankly, I'd wait next gen, based on my experience.

When I decided to buy my Iphone (3G), it was a few months before the 3GS went out.

It worked great, even with the 3GS upgrades. But then, when the 4G OS went out (about only 1y after my purchase), shit hit the fan... My Iphone isn't as fun as it was.

So well.. it might not be the same situation for you, but put that in your pipe.

and all this just made me look at the Android phones more and more. Seems like their OS is less bloated and easier to update, when you chose a model like the EVO that doesn't work with a carrier-modified OS.

Love mine. Will get the new generation. Expect more than half of the people in here to respond with "Get Android instead"

Android can kiss my ass with their app store horseshit.

I say try it out first. If you like it, get it. I just moved from Verizon to ATT specifically so I could get the iPhone4. Now I just might move back to Verizon because I like their service over ATT.

I would wait till at least June to see if verizon will be getting the next gen version (my guess is that verizon will receive the new model six months behind att).

With internet hot spots virtually everywhere I personally am not willing to pay the monthly service fee. I mean, just for the data plan an iPhone or Droid is what, $30 a month? How much total with a decent amount of minutes?

I like my Samsung Galaxy. It's a great phone, Flash support is nice to have on a device that I do a lot of browsing on, AND...I don't like supporting Steve Jobs and Apple.

It's nice using Youtube's actual website. There's a Youtube app for iPhone and Android, but a lot of the time the video isn't available through the app.

I love my android with sprint. Unlimited everything 1500 minutes towards landlines (2 phones) for $130. Yay for being a member of Navy Federal and getting 10% off! That being said I also love my iTouch 4G.

I don't think that's the correct name for it but it's basically an iphone without the phone and some other features.

    im bored with android already.

i want something new to play with.
sprint is supposed to be announcing something spectacular feb 7th.

speculations range from svdo deployment, to 3d screen phones, to watch phones, to pico projector phones, or maybe theyre dropping the $10 4g charge, lol.
who knows but they claim its going to be an "industry first" again. so i cant wait to see.

Officially it's called an iPod Touch, and that's probably what I'll get. Or a non 3/4G Droid tablet.

Yep! I just played with one today, bad ass! Dual core with an nvidia gpu, micro hdmi, dnla, finger print scanner for security. But what makes it cool is all the peripherals you can get with it. There is a super dock that will connect to your tv and give you web browsing via firefox! There is a laptop type dock that gives you an 11" screen/keyboard (like a netbook), then there is the standard dock which just does video out (and I believe a keyboard) for multimedia sharing. Oh and a 1930mah battery!
It was running android 2.2 and should be easily compatible with 2.3.

Can you imagine psx on this bad boy or mame on the go?

The line between tablet/laptop/phone will continue to blur until they're basically the same thing. Wearable or implanted computing devices is where I see it going ultimately, and then direct neural connection and brain augmentation, and then full on cyborgs! :D

I've heard the Verizon iPhone won't be able to do simultaneous voice/data which is pretty big for me. I don't know about you guys but I constantly find myself needing to look stuff up as I'm talking to someone, or playing some game while faking a conversation with the girlfriend ("uh huh...uh huh...no way!....uh huh"). :p

damn are you serious? thats definately a superphone.
the evo shouldve had that mirroring hdmi feature.. and devs have yet to figure out how to get it working.. will prolly never happen.

dual core cpus will definately ramp up game production for android.
the atrix has reportedly scored a 2500-2700 on quadrant.. wow, thats BEFORE any tweaking/custom roms/AOSP. It can get up to 3000 im sure.
but quadrant is almost an outdated benchmark tool now considering the advancements in mobile cpus, theyre gonna have to update it.

i love my iphone 4, but i would hold off until the spring when they usually come out with the new products. The droids nowadays are pretty bad ass. I still love the simplicity of my iphone, itunes, and the ipod are the reason why i stick with apple. Most phones out now have much cooler features but sticking with apple.
