I was trying to adjust some cables in my antec 900, when I clipped the top fan and broke off a blade. fffffuuuuuuuu. A trip to frys, and 400 dollars later, I return with some new toys Out with the old! and in with the new hotness! I picked up the Silverstone Raven RV02. This case blows the antec line out of the water. Antec case? Nevermore! The RV02 uses the same 90 degree mounting as the fortress and the rv01, which for one thing, gives you more room, and for another cools components alot better. No more hot air getting sucked in the side, or through the psu only to go through your gpu's then FINALLY your cpu. With the 90 degree placement, each component gets fresh cool air, and no hot psu exhaust. As you can see, the 90 degree mobo mounting makes all of your connections at the top, very easy to get to. Plenty of space on the back panel for wire management, and lots of little clips to ziptie too. This was my first attempt ever at proper CM, and it took forever, I must have used 500 zipties. But I think the results turned out very nice. I also replaced my aging CoolerMaster 500w PSU with an Antec True Power 850w. It's more efficient, larger capacity (plan on going crossifre/eyefininity in the future), and modular. And I got a good deal because it was a customer return. Everything installed, you can see the 90 degree mobo mounting clearly now, in case you were confused. The case only has space for 3 HDDs, which may not be enough for some people. They're releasing the RV02-E, which should have more bays. Although it only has space for 3 drives, it does come with brackets to mount an ssd on the far side of the case. Another pic of everything installed, and my incredible CM . Also, note the 3 bottom fans. Their really quiet 180mm fans, with a built in tray style filter, which is pretty rockin. The PSU exhaust also has a removable filter on the backside of the case. Enough talk! Time for the money shot! AAAWWWWWW SKEET SKEET MOTHERFUCKER!
Won't dust settle onto the top and into all the connections? Other than that it looks like a nice set up.
Thanks. It really is a nice case, worth every penny. I hadn't really thought about dust, but I don't think it'll be an issue, as the top is the case exhaust. It's got my psu and a 120mm fan pulling air out. Plus the dust filters built in should keep dust out of the inside. I'll be sure to update in a few weeks If dust does start settling
Ah, the golden orb! I've got one of those in the last system I built and it was the bomb. Anyway, nice looking system. Maybe I'll break down and build another one, at this point I'm pretty firmly in the laptop camp.
thats different! looks nice dude, i think the top cover for the connections and fan output should keep dust away.
Lol gaudy window and lights. The window is so I can show off my wire management (and my nice hardware once I upgrade ). The lights are because I'm a ricer at heart. It's a zalman cnps9700, could have Bren called the golden orb before, I dunno. And yeah, it's the bomb. Overclocked my e6550 to 3.6 and never got above 50c. I may need to reseat it though, my q6600 is running 36c idle at stock clocks, 50 underload.
LOL! "Look how tidy my cables are!" Like I said, teh gay. I just noticed the massive fans. Are they noisy at all or they do run at very low RPMs?
Nice case dude, kinda makes me want to take pics of my pc and put them on here too, maybe ill do that.
Do it man. We've got a "show off your ride" thread, may e we should have a "show off your rig/battlestation" thread.
I will hopefully be joining you soon. I just bought a decent radeon (hd5770 i think? my girlfriend got it for me since i bought her a ring. gogo engagement gfx card) but the rest of my computer is shit and all needs to be replaced
I've got one of those lit window cases sitting under my desk, hasn't been powered on in eons. It's a 3ghz P4 system, was the bomb in it's day. The last system I built though I went with classic black, no bling. My goal on that system was to keep it quiet because the bling case I had sounded like a freight train. That one you've got there is probably pretty quiet though, those big 10cm fans spin a lot slower. The Dell Precisions we've got at work use them.
