Hello, i'm cured and im doing media at tafe. My current computer is shitting itself when it comes to big tasks, and is hardly usable. I don't have any money at the moment to replace parts, or build a new PC. Which sucks.. lol

My new dvd burner dosnt burn to disc anymore because of memory problems, which makes it difficult for my media outcomes.

these are my specs

CPU: Pentium IV 2.67 G
Board: GIGA GA-8PE800PRO
Memory: KINGSTON 256MB 266Mhz DDR x2
Video Card: ASUS GF2 MX400 64MB
HDD: SEAGATE 80GB BARRACUDA 7200.7

----------------------------------------------
If you have any working spare parts to donate, i would greatly appriciate it.

PM me for more info or questions. Also if you want info about one of the short films i worked on that's going into The St. Kilda film festival.

Thanks for reading this thread.

the huge bottleneck there is the memory. you need more. at least get a gig total. your CPU is "old" but it should have no problems performing any tasks really. I have an "old" P4 3.0ghz and it's fine. But i have 2GB of ram. It makes all the difference in the world. Hell, upgrading from 1GB to 2GB of ram helped it a lot. you can upgrade memory for cheap. if you can just get it to at least a gig. ram is pretty cheap. unfortunately, I don't think I have any to spare. I'll check though. but check around here, craigslist, or ebay.

EDIT: I just checked and you could get a 1GB stick for $20 no problem, maybe even less. or just get two 512MB sticks. I checked that motherboard and it has 3 memory slots and will max out at 2GB. leave the two 256MB sticks in there and maybe just get a 512MB stick to put in the 3rd. get you up to 1GB and that would be like $10.
