Budget?

The Linksys WRTSL54GS can do pretty much anything a home user could want, and if it can't out of the box, well, then, you can allways load linux onto it. http://wiki.openwrt.org/

WRT54GL.

Open source so you can load up customized firmware based on Linux. Converts an $80 router into a $500+ router.

It's extremely stable on the wireless front. Once I set up the power usage and other wifi settings, it's like a rock. I'm using the Thibor firmware.

You should read this article on Wikipedia. It has a lot of info on the WRT54Gx routers. I have revision 3.1 of the WRT54G. Latter revisions have reduced RAM and flash memory. Still, the fact that you can load 3rd party FW with tons of extra functions is pretty nice.
