has anybody upgraded to this yet? I read something the other day about IE7 not working after installing the update so I was somewhat apprehensive.

Well, I just installed Windows on a laptop today and it was fine.

Though I installed the SP3 before IE7. So I don't know what will happen if IE7 is already installed.

I think I heard that if you have IE7 installed when you install SP3 then you can't uninstall IE7 and go back to IE6, or something to that effect

I've been running it for two days now. Honestly, I don't notice any difference in any way whatsoever. I have Black Hole detection turned off, so I'm not going to notice the new detection algorithm.

Maybe if I were on a network with a Windows 2008 server, I'd notice something, due to the Network Access Protection.

TCP/IP settings. You see it if you use TCP Optimizer to tweak your TCP/IP connection. Black Hole detection is the way TCP/IP detects routers that don't handle packets correctly, so it can ignore those routers, sort of.

The Kernel mode cryptographic code may be the only thing that will affect me in the future...

I updated to SP3 yesterday and don't notice any improvements in speed, or any of that (didn't expect to).

All I get is my MP3s skipping (Winamp) almost every time I click or scroll in Firefox!!

Thoughts?

Are you on pages using heavy javascript? My wife was on a page earlier that was using 25% of the CPU. It didn't do this before SP3. Javascript and SP3 don't play nice with each other.

Yep. Firefox with any flash or animated gif content uses 100% CPU when scrolling. Hopefully the next version will do better, though I'm not counting on it...

It actually happens on EVERY webpage, and yah, my CPU usage jumps a lot to do just that simple task (scroll or click a link, etc).

heh, i had this same problem. I just updated winamp and also in the output settings changed it so my audio is hardware accelerated. now i have some other issues. One is that whenever I turn my little volume thing on my logitech keyboard i loose the ability to click on ANYTHING. All I can do is hit the power button on my computer to gracefully shut it down. I can move the mouse, just not click on anything, very strange. I even put in another hard drive, reinstalled windows, all the latest drivers and some simple programs I use (firefox/winamp/etc) and SAME PROBLEM. My volume control on my keyboard is useless until I can find a fix

Also, right after I put in my password at the login prompt and hit enter, I see my wallpaper and before my icons and taskbar come up on the top right of the screen a window pops up really fast that reads "personalizing settings" and below that it shows something like c\windows\update -wupdate or something.

From what I've read lately, SP3 has "issues", installing drivers that should not be installed, like installing Intel Power Management drivers on AMD systems, depending on the version of the image they installed from.

I've installed it on a Dell D600 laptop and my Core 2 Duo desktop. No problems so far, but both are running Intel CPUs. And I didn't realize people still used Winamp.
