Windows Vista Premium 32bit license = 64bit license too?

I was putzing around Demonoid and someone posted a Vista 64 ISO and was saying that if you have a 32bit key it would work also for the 64bit version. I'd like to believe this but I'm having a hard time doing so... Any truth in it?

Not sure at all. but a sure thing is that if you need a 64 premium CD, I'll make an iso for you or ship it gladly.

Unbelievable, this is actually true! And confirmed on the MS website:

I'm downloading a torrent of Vista 64 right now, but thanks anyway Kain. When I get back from Chicago I'm going to take the plunge and upgrade.

woot! your problems are solved without buying the OS again.

When activating, you'll probably have to call MS in India though. But it's no big deal, it only takes 5 minutes.

Well, my enthusiasm is dampened a bit as I have an OEM version and it's unclear if my key will work or not. I've read a bunch of forums and the consensus is "It'll work, but it's legally murky". I'm trying to order the alternate media from Microsoft (10 bucks) as they actually give you a separate key to use, but the damn ordering site is busy or down.

If you can get a hold of a Vista 64 bit ISO you can use this. It's called ABR.

ABR (Activation Backup and Restore) | directedge.us

Backup your current key onto a flash drive with this program. Then reformat with Vista 64bit and use the recover portion of this software to inject your serial number into Vista.

I was given a legit OEM Vista Ultimate 32-bit CD and Key. My buddy that gave it to me told me as soon as you register with either a 32-bit or 64-bit, the key is bound to that version. I've never bothered trying with 32-bit but I'll take his word for it. He was part of the Vista launch at our company.
