Using a driver that spoofs the bios information and makes Vista think youre running an OEM system, and allows you to enter an OEM key. Once you enter the key, it automatically activates it without requiring external activation. Your install is then labeled as genuine and youre good to go.

I just hate how Microsoft has crap in their EULA that can (and will) put a stop to this... like unauthorized updates without your permission and knowledge.. Fuck that.

Tweak3D doesnt promote warez. I just posted a link I found on Digg. There is a link to a file on that site, but we dont block people from linking to torrent sites, so whats the difference? The site cannot be held responsible for what its users post, as long as nothing is stored on the server.

Beautiful.

Hmm, I have been curious about Vista, and since I finally got myself a DVD burner and lots of hard drive space, I think I'll give it a go.

The difference is linking to a torrent site isn't promoting Warez. A torrent site is just a torrent site...you directly linked to an article that not only explains how to crack the Vista OEM security check, but also supplies the software needed. 3 years ago I would have been banned for posting something like this. You are also an administrator to these boards, I would think you know better.

Where is Dan?

Yes I am an Administrator. You can bother dan all you would like, but that doesnt change the fact that what I posted is completely acceptable. What you seem to not understand is that the files link from that blog site are in no way breaking the DMCA, so not illegal. As well instructions on how to do it, again are in no ways illegal, specially considering it is informing everyone, including Microsoft about their flaw.

If you have a problem with it, dont reply and dont read about it.

I was wondering how easy it was going to be to pirate Vista with the new activation features. I have a legit copy myself, but I am curious how it is going to handle the warez scene.

I personally don't have a problem with this post, but I feel like the rules have changed, or at least admins procedures have changed suddenly.

Whenever we would talk about, for example, where to find a cdkey for an os or a game, you guys would whip out the ban hammer and the train to locksville. Now we're discussing ways to crack vista and its ok?
Either situation had information stored on the T3d server, yet one of them gets boot.

Well I havent been here as long as some of you guys. So that is understandable. Times are changing, dont you think T3D should adapt with them? Of course we arent condoning piracy, but talking about it in the abstract like this isnt against the rules. No files were linked to or served/attached, and no serial numbers or keys were shared.

I find it odd that I have to defend myself, so please guys, in the future, if there is an issue, PM me. I will no longer respond to similar posts in the public view.

The change in talking about piracy came mostly (iirc) when we moved off of PCStats servers.

Didn't know that...I have to take a look at the rules I guess. I refrain from posting this sort of thing because it used to result in a ban.

@Chapel: Linking to the Digg article would be a bit better IMO. I'm just saying, that this IS a public board, and having a direct link to an article like that could be risky business. When people blatantly break the rules we allways used to bring it up in the public! Didn't mean to attack you Chapel..I would have said that to anyone.

Well that clears a few things up. So no linking to direct piracy material (keys/cracks/files etc)?
But its ok to talk about it and suggest a way to find it, I quite like that
