I've heard of alot of problems with SP3 and Oem machines, not sure why but both my neighbors who have HP's got BSOD when they upgraded to SP3. I upgraded with no problem back when it first came out.

When I installed it, I could not get my sound to stop skipping. Uninstalled it, fixed the sound and left it off for a while. Than I gave it another try, and same problem. So I don't use it.

It's due to the nature of the Image that HP used to install on their machines, which was for a different machine. SP3's installer would get confused by it. I think MS has fixed the problem with that now.

I had no problem with most machines I installed it on. Only a Toshiba laptop got the bug which prevents from using windows update.

My computer works perfect the way it is, I'm not going to waste my time on a reinstall unless I have to

I like HP's :P

The only prob I've seen with SP3 is rare but you lose the ability to connect to the internet or your home network...nothing I did worked until uninstalling the SP. Granted it happened only once, but it happened.

Of about a dozen desktops we've deployed we've had two die within 3 years. I only know one person who owns one of their laptops but it's been a total lemon. Two warranty repairs already and it's acting up again. A pretty small sample of machines to be sure, but a 23% failure rate is still pretty amazing. Consumer Reports gives them low marks for reliability too. Their Thin Clients have been much better for us though, albeit not great. We've deployed 28 of those and only had 4 fail within 3 years (14%).
