Winamp probs.. best version of winamp?

Soooo I just downloaded a song off amazon.com and it doesn't work with winamp v. 5.24. I am using that version because I don't like the most recent version of winamp because I have problems with it and vista. I try and use the visualizations in the most recent version of winamp and it bogs vista down like crazy.

The song I downloaded actually works with the newest winamp version though. It's just in regular mp3 format but it doesn't make any sound in winamp v. 5.24 and the bit rate jumps around. So what version is the best besides 5.52? thanks!

OP is incorrect, there is no good version of WinAmp.

Get Foobar or iTunes.

actually I figured what the problem was. I guess I didn't have the sound up but I swear I turned it up and it wouldn't work. Oh well.

Winamp 2 MAYBE.

But iTunes on my Windows box was far more reliable to use than WinAmp 3.0+. Plus as a media library application it's quite nifty. Though now that I'm on OS X there is really no reason not to use it.

What was the first version that used the classic skin? I guess I'm thinking of 2 or 3 then...Every time I open winamp it seems like there's a new update to it so I lost track a long time ago.

2 was the last classic version. 3 sucked so bad that they skipped 4 and just made ver 5.

iTunes on OSX rocks, but the windows version makes me want to shoot myself. After you use it on OSX, the win version just feels horrible
