My wife made me dump all the boxes of AT related stuff. I haven't used that form factor for.....hmmmmm, 10 years.

Just buy a video card for around 150-200 dollars... either company will do... sounds like you just want something a little bit better than standard for your games, but not over the top

edit:
something like:

GIGABYTE GV-NX66T128D Geforce 6600GT 128MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card

or

SAPPHIRE 100557SR-RD Radeon 9800PRO 256MB 256-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card

both are about 160

if $300 is your limit, I'd look around for a geforce 6800, they're getting cheaper and cheaper all the time.

If you plan to use tv-out at all, FUCK NVIDIA, go ATI. though since they started using X... naming I have no idea what's good from them.

no, I'll agree that just because he has the money doesn't mean he should necessarily spend it all.

that said, I'm somewhat dissappointed with my 6600gt, and I think it's worth the extra cash if you can get a 6800 with 4 more pipes(and the possibility of another 4 more pipes on the agp version) for not too much more.

edit: Canadian_man001, AGP or PCI-express?? I'm guessing agp due to your 'crappy old radeon'.

And i live in the middle of nowhere and im serious... a guy asked me once "how fast can you upgrade my Pentium 75 to and how much will it cost me?" i told him about 5 bucks for the pentuim 166MMX i have thrown in a box in my basement.

It sucks to be Canadian I guess. That isn't really a good card at all, and that is a terrible price too. I'm pretty sure you can flash a good 9500's bios to a 9700, but I'm not sure about the 9520s. Get at least a 9700/6600GT for sure for sure.

www.canadacomputers.com <-- they have a new online store that you can use your bank's online-banking site to pay with, and their prices are generally awesome.

don't get a 95xx. the only radeon you want to consider without an X at the start of the model number is a 9800pro

BFG 6800 OC $295 (12 pipes possibly unlockable to 16)

these below are all 8-pipe cards:
Sapphire 9800 pro 128mb $164
Sapphire 9800 pro 256mb $214
XFX 6600gt 128mb OEM $199

I've posted this what seems like a million times already, but: nvidia's drivers totally fucking suck if you want to do anything with your card other than play games (see the divx6 thread). TV-out support blows, I'm stuck using year-old drivers because tv-out settings will not save on any other version. ATI on the other hand is the complete opposite.

I'm an ATI man. Partially because of the 3rd party drivers. Gotta love the Omega's.
