But MSP is on to something with the motherboard. You could be looking at a bad mobo, and you'll be royally fucked.
Yup, it still screws up without the battery installed. It just shuts down immediately once it starts booting an OS.

I'll go ahead and pick up an AC Adapter when I get a free minute... Thanks for your help, guys!

Hey Will if it turns out to be the motherboard don't feel bad that you got ripped off, i myself got ripped off with a laptop trade deal so your not alone. I traded a guy a 5hp Leaf blower valued at about $130 for a Compaq Pentium 4 laptop. He said it had a bad Rom because it wouldn't boot from a CD...Turned out to also have a bad motherboard, battery, rom, and memory... So basicaly I got a 2.0ghz pentium 4 processor and a screen which never sold on ebay. Never trust trades!

I was a Dragon force fan before Guitar Hero..

Sorry about the problems you're experiencing with your laptop! I work for M80, a social media company in L.A. and we’re actually working on behalf of Toshiba to help spread the word about the Answers from Laptop Experts site where you can ask laptop experts, like Joel Johnson of Boing Boing, about any problem for any brand of computer.

*edited see below*

I hope this info helps!

Thanks,

If the replacement AC adapter does the same thing then it's definitely the system board. You can get them, and installation generally isn't too bad, but it's probably going to cost more than the laptop is worth.
