I've got 3 PCs' Intel. Two are recent builds, both 2006, One is a pent 550 w/hypertreading and the other is posted. Both are good but I'm broke. I don't know squat about AMD but that will be my next unless Intel's new conroe is what they claim it will be. spend some time and browse the old posts here, you'll find loads of opinions.

Hello, I am planning to game with it mainly... I have a pretty decent budget.. I could spend about 600 bucks on motherboard, processor and ram etc.. I don't need the top of the line if the next step below the top of the line is much cheaper. I am also interested in stability. Thanks

Bingo.. I'd just wait til July for Conroe.. It's supposed to be amazing. And you're hearing this from an AMD fanboy as well.

If you can wait til mid july that would be the way to go. The day after Intel releases its new processor AMD is gonna cut its prices
Quote:
* AMD Athlon 64 price cuts will receive price cut up to 30%
* AMD Athlon 64 X2 will receive price cuts up to 50%
* AMD Sempron processors will receive price cuts up to 15%

LOL.....Seriously, I hope there's a price war in the making. I'm not beyond using AMD. The Conroe is what I've got my eye on though.

Your proposed system looks good to me. What vid card you going to try for? And don't scrimp on the PSU. Whemever I buy new mobo's/system, I get a new PSU to juice it up. Buy a brand name, not a no-name special.....you won't regret it.
