Throw on the table some places/books/softwares that are great for learning web programing (besides a school). Basically looking to make a small business website for my bro for selling things...it will be using thumbnails (kinda like in the NSFW layout) but for selling comic books.......so its gonna need a dbase and shopping cart and all that jazz.

I know basic HTML and Java, and a smidge of Pearl.....but I've not done the things he wants yet.... I'm more of the graphics end so the programming is different for me....

Books would be good but I am a hands on kinda guy....hehehehe..... so I like to practice too.....

you can go onto any p2p network and just search for what your looking for and a bunch of ebooks will come up. you could also use a site like hotscripts.com and take a bunch of scripts from them to put together a site but i would suggest learning it.
