| Junior Member | hi everyone i just have a question on a thermal compound choice for my processor, i have not received any of my parts yet from newegg and they should be coming this week. my dilemma is that i want to get all the parts that i did not order before i get the rest of the parts, so i bought a silicone based thermal compound from radioshack and also a DYNEX silver thermal compound form best buy. should i definitely use the silver compound or just stick with the silicone because i do not plan on overclocking my Athlon 64 3500+ processor also my heatsink is Zalman 7000B-ALCU |

Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them? So, now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe." | |

| Habitual line stepper | I use the cheap white stuff. There are only modest temperature differences between good silver, and the white paste. If you allready have the silver stuff, use it. |

| Holla | I never thought there was a big difference between the two. All just really matters on how you are cooling your system. |

| Member | I would use the silver compound. Be careful though, it is conductive, so do not go crazy with it. You run the risk of it squeezing out, getting onto your motherboard, and causing a short. |
