Is there a way to turn on your computer...

From another computer? Such as so i can do a remote desktop connection from another house, but if my computer is off is there a way to turn it on? Kinda confusing i know but i need some help, thanks, i just don't want my computer to be left on all the time and only turn it on when i need to

thats exactly what the Wake-on-LAN (WOL) feature is for. wikipedia has a pretty decent description on how to use it.

I turn my wife's on with WOL all the time. My mobo doesn't have WOL....at least I don't think it does.
Hmmmm, I neve really even checked to see if mine does or not.

do i have to be on my network to use the wol feature? Or can i turn on my computer from the internet?
