Not much you could do about it without removing the original fan. Either way it risky because fan is so loud because it needs to cool a very fast card - those things get hot easily. If I were you I'd just leave it as it is.

I have that one and it rocks, plus the adapter has room for 3 more fans on it. you have 2x full 12v and 2x 6v

I make myself laugh.

I modded my 6600GT. This mod is probobly pretty common and dirt cheap to free.

Pull the HSF off
Pull the fan and fan shroud off of the heatsink
Replace bare heatsink
Take an old PCI/ISA/AGP/ETC card, remove the card and keep the bracket.
zip tie Vantec stealth or other quiet fan(80MM or bigger) on said bracket
place below video card, and enjoy the silence.

Remember, small fans are loud.
I can post pics if my little discription makes no sense.

its pretty easy on most, but make sure you get some Arctic silver to put on the GPU because they don't send you good stuff.

Very good suggestion, usually manufacturers will use cheap thermal pads. Even using the white paste helps a bunch over a thermal pad.

I would highly suggest you at least try my method if you have a spare fan. It will cost you nothing, if you have a spare fan.

I've heard nothing but praise for arctic-cooling's products, but why spend $30+ on it when you could get the same results for free?

This Vantec stealth at 5v keeps my 6600GT at near room temperature.
