OK I don't usually ask questions on forums because I'm fairly good at seeing what's wrong with my computer. This however, has completely stumped me.

My problem is with Windows XP "locking up" in a way but not exactly... It happens seemingly randomly. I can move my mouse, and right whichever task I was already on, but trying to focus on another window does nothing. The start menu doesn't work. Right clicking doesn't work either. This sometimes goes away on it's own, but it goes away instantly if I hit control+alt+delete.

I recently formatted and reinstalled a fresh copy of Windows... only to find that I still had the problem. Switching my mouse didn't help.

I'm starting to worry that maybe it's my CPU or memory that's dying. These are my specs, and the machine (save the gfx card) is all 2 yeard old:

Intel P4 2.53GHZ
Asus P4P800S
1 stick 256MB generic, 1 stick 512MB Corsair
BFG Geforce 6800 GT
Rosewill 450w ps
60GB western digital

Could anyone help, or point me in the right direction? Thanks a lot.

IT sounds like your memory (most likely) or your motherboard is the problem. Run memtest (http://www.memtest86.com) to for at least an hour to see if your memory is the problem. If it finds no errors try a different motherboard if you can.

Oh...just noticed you have two sticks of ram, test them sepertately.
