Im wanting to solder 2 wires to a 3v cmos battery because the wires are so short I dont really have any other option. Will it work?

Actually I think Im just going to solder some wires to it to make it longer. I have hardly any wire to play with on this computer. Driving me nuts.

I don't think it will work, and it's extremely unsafe. I suggest against it.

You should be fine, just heat the wire when soldering and NOT the battery. Here is a very technical drawing on what your should do:

Smooth metallic surfaces are hard to make solder stick to. If you're wanting to solder to it, I suggest sanding the surface so that it has some texture to grab onto.

I've done it, works fine, scrape the battery w/ a razorblade to clean and heat the wire like j0k3r suggests.

an alligator clip or self closing tweezers, forceps, clip on the wire just before the insulation and you won't melt the insulation all to shit.

yeah i dont have much wire to play with. Im talking very very little. Soldering is going to be my best bet I think. Just gonna solder a wire to the wire that has the battery hooked up. I hope it works, if not Im gonna have to cut the case. Good thing its under the battery holder so its not visible.
