Dammit why does this always happen to me

I'm on Vista Home Premium. Got this file in my Downloads folder that won't shift. Yes it's a video, yes it's porn, yes it's illegal. Leave me alone

Anyway, everytime I move my mouse over it everything starts to lag and that green bar at the top starts dragging its ass. I hit delete and everything hangs. At that point, I can either restart the PC because everything has frozen or if I'm lucky I can close Windows Explorer. But if I'm that lucky, I'm unable to reopen it.

It can't be a virus because everything else is working perfectly. Just anytime I go anywhere near this file the whole computer starts spitting its dummy out.

Halp?

Not real familiar with Vista but this is a (link) address to a site I found about taking ownership of the file and then being able to get rid of it. Hope it helps..

Doesn't Vista usually try to generate thumbnails or grab metadata from video files? Maybe the file isn't structured correctly and it's causing it to get confused looking for the data. You could try running "cmd" from the Start menu followed by "del <name of file>" to delete it without using explorer.

Nope, that's not working either. I typed -

"del C:\Users\Steve\Downloads\3.mpg"

Command Prompt just hangs at that point

Use an NTFS boot disk. You can delete anything you want that way.
You could also try to cmd prompt in safe mode.
