So I have a computer hooked up to my tv now but it's a regular size big ass PC that i stick behind my entertainment unit. For Christmas, I'm thinking of getting some sort of slim media style PC. what is out there? what are you recommendations? I don't need anything super high end but just something that will fit and replace my old DVD player. Something also that has media software (like xp media center, vista media center, or mac front row) so my g/f and her friends and just pop in a dvd and be able to watch without having to launch software. I usually don't have a lot of christmas money so it would need to be as cheap as possible. what do you all think? thanks!

Dude, just get a used Mac Mini. Small form, plays dvds and has an integrated hard drive and front row.

Shuttle has some barebones systems that I'm looking into...haven't decided if I want to build one real good shuttle system or two decent systems (to put sbs 08 on).

Depends on what you're looking for as well, a basic AMD shuttle barebones system on newegg is roughly $150.
