Anyone know sharepoint here? I need to setup an alert system that emails one person if a box is checked (on a form) or someone else if it isn't.

I'm pretty sure I need to use the designer app to do this...
oh, and on an awesome note, we may be getting a $300,000 clariion san for free at work.

Ugh I wish I knew more off the top of my head. Most of our clients don't want to pay for sharepoint deployment.

Perfect. Fuck. Ok stay here and get... butt fucked by 12 Neanderthals. Bitch

If it's 2007 there is pretty comprehensive documentation for the Sharepoint object model and namespaces:
SharePoint Server 2007 Administration Model

If you need more information, let me know.

I know you can setup alerts for changes to certain tickets/forms once saved. Or it has to be that specific?

But yeah, depends what version.

I have basic alerts setup, I think I need to use workflows for this.

Sharepoint 3.0 (whichever that is)

We use sharepoint at a lot of our clients. With me at least, once you demo it to them, the setup time (maybe 5 hours if they want a few basic apps like helpdesk, etc) + free version is an easy sell

If you use shareholder designer there are a number of minute variables you set alerts on. If you try to build a work flow from the included web-ui it is a big more clumsy.

You do need designer, but its pretty easy to do. In the custom workflow just add a compare condition and associated action. Even if it's your first time it will take you just a few minutes. PM me if you need some more help with it though.
